My personal experience - We booked the tickets online (for the evening show/specific time) through official website. We had troubles to find the place (my fault, Dubai mall is really huge) and the coordination there was a bit chaotic (we had to ask where to go multiple times, we were not admitted on the boat at our booking time, the queueing rules were a bit unclear etc.) This influenced our experience and almost ruined our evening.

The coordination and visitor management is definitely area for an improvement.

The venue itself and around was overcrowded.

Here goes my recommendation - Book the tickets online and arrive with sufficient time reserve. Study where is the meeting point and how to get there in advance. Come in a positive mood, don’t be afraid to ask questions, be patient and once you get onboard,...

We purchased our tickets around 7pm and was asked to return at 7.45pm time to make the boat ride for the 8pm fountain show. We did that and when we came back there was a big que. We were told that 8pm slot had gone. The person then made up a complete fabrication saying he asked us to leave one person waiting ....for 45 minutes in the heat!. We have a disabled child so we couldnt and had other commitments so had to cancel. We got a refund processed ...that doesn't really make it up as a tourist, we came to experience Dubai (don't want refunds, I want to pay for a good service at the prices we are paying).
