OPSO Dubai — Restaurant in Dubai

So, me and my sisters went to OPSO in Fashion Avenue to celebrate my health as I just got out of the hospital after a tough month there due to my heart condition.

We wanted to celebrate with our parents, who were supposed to join us later after shopping in Dubai Mall.

While we were waiting, we went to OPSO to see if we could reserve a table. Luckily, there wasn't a big crowd at the restaurant because, to be honest, the staff and the place itself were really rude and not so great.

The hostess who showed us to our table was incredibly rude. She gave us the smallest table right by the door. I explained to her that I couldn't sit so close to the door because it's the entrance and exit point, and I wasn't feeling well. I wanted a quiet and airy spot.

She then showed me another table that was between two plant pots or something. I politely told her that I have a heart issue and sitting in a corner table by the wall makes me feel suffocated.

I asked the hostess if I could sit closer to the railing because it's more airy and I can breathe better there. But she just shrugged and said she couldn't do anything because the place was full. But the place wasn't full, neither on the smoking side nor the non-smoking side. I pointed that out to her, but she just said, "Oh, those tables by the railing are for four people."

I requested her to let me sit there because I saw European couples sitting in pairs at those tables. But I guess she was being racist and didn't allow us, just because we were Saudis.

Then she gave us another random table by the wall outside, which wasn't close to the railing, and told us very aggressively to just sit here, please. So we sat, and she left.

Then the waiter came to our table with the menu. He was very pushy and rude, and he was in a rush too. So I asked him to let us go through the menu and requested a dessert menu as well. That way, we could look at the food and dessert options together to decide what we wanted.

He brought the dessert menu but kept asking if we wanted to place an order for water. I told him that we would order everything together and not now, but he made a bad face and left.

Then another lady server came and asked us to place an order for water first. I told her no too, and she got offended as well.

They didn't even let us look at the menu in peace.

So my sisters and I decided to leave the restaurant right away. We had a bad experience with the hostess who didn't let us sit by the railing despite the health condition I explained, and the rude and pushy staff was enough to put us off. We just left OPSO and went to TROVE instead.

TROVE has been our favorite since last year - their staff, mostly Turkish and Syrian, provides top-notch hospitality and service, unlike OPSO.

We will never return to a place that is so poorly managed. I came to OPSO on recommendation, but our experience was from hell. We will never go back there...

Worst restaurant experience of my life, without any doubt!! We came from America to visit our family in Dubai. I reserved a table for a birthday surprise a few day earlier, in person. I asked if they offer any cakes, the rep assured me that they do. She said we also have candles and even asked the name to be written on the cake! The night came, we went, they had a different table for us even though I had asked explicitly multiple times when making the reservation for a table at edge of the balcony (I'd even showed them which one). The food came in 3 separate batches with 15min delays in between. By the time they were "done", half of the food was cold. Even then, the waiter (whose head was in his phone the whole time) had forgotten the two french fries for the table and two drinks. When we were done with our food, I asked multiple times for them to bring the cake! We were waiting for another 20mins (with 3 kids in our group getting sleepy), and nothing. Finally, I asked for the manager. He came, I tried explaining the situation with absolutely no help from him. Finally the waiter came again, and to our absolute surprise, he said we don't have any cakes at all!! We were furious, with the night ruined I asked for the check and they brought it without any effort to make amends or even a single apology! Overall, the food was bad-to-okay at best, the service and staff were the worst I've seen in my life (I've been to many countries and many restaurants), the manager was very rude and no help from him at all.
