My family and I had gone out to dinner since I saw the many great reviews it has. Truly I can that the begging of this experience has been a bit slow yet mesmerizing. As you come towards the pier, there is a lovely and fantastic view going towards the restaurant having the view of the Burj al Arab which was beautiful. When we get to the restaurant, they had seated us at the bar and have us order some drinks. It did take a bit of time for us to get seated ( 15-20 min ) but we got our table. They first provide you with a selection of sauces to try with bread. Which was alright. For our starter we had ordered the “Raw Marine Experience Platter”, “US Diver Scallops “ and “Palaos Octopus”.
Raw Marine Experience Platter: This was truly an amazing dish, I can say the presentation was 5/5, tasting 4/5. Although, I did have an allergy to Kiwi and they don’t put it into notice and was placed on the dish and was very life risking. Was NOT HAPPY with that :(
US scallops: I can truly say this is a must to order! It absolutely amazing! All the flavors are there are and the texture was beyond this world. My and family and i really enjoyed this dish. Presentation 5/5, Tasting 5/5.
Palaos Octopus: This was beyond anything I have ever tried! I can say that this is first time I can say that I will never forget this texture and taste of this dish! Would definitely recommend it also. Presentation 5/5, Taste 6/5 :)
For our main course i had order the “ Grilled French Blue Loster ( special request to be mixed with some pasta) ”and the “Spanish Carabineros Praws”.
Grilled French Blue Loster ( with pasta ): I can say that this has become one of my favorite dishes from all the restaurant I have been to. I absolutely loved it and couldn’t think it could be better. I would 100% recommend this. Presentation 5/5, taste 5/5
Spanish Carabineros Prawns: I had a bit of taste of it from my parents dish, it just... AMAZING! I just wanted keep digging for more but would have finished my parents dish😂 Presentation 4/5, Taste 5/5.
Dessert: The kitchen had prepared for us the “White Shell”. It was very different. It had the chocolate taste but also a surprising fuit taste in the middle. Now usually I would say I don’t prefer fruit with my chocolate but this was just fantastic. Really enjoyed it.
Overall notes to the Restaurant:
Positive:
Amazing Food Presentation Overall 5/5 Tasting Overall 5/5 Kind staff Very welcoming Manger assistant The chef kindly came and greeted us Very friendly restaurant
Improvements:
It would have been good to notice our table full of bread crumbs. We had to ask the waiter to change it for us. So I suggest that it is best to clean the table before the main course.
To take into consideration that I had a high allergy to kiwi and not apply it to any of the dishes. Although thé assistant manger did apologize, but should still be careful.
—————————————————————————— I can say that this has been one the best dinners I have ever been to I would definitely recomend this restaurant ( If you’re lookinh for a pricy dinner but trust me it is worth it). Absolutely loved it and I would definitely be coming back, and especially to experience their lunch. A very welcoming staff and it was lovely to meet the Chef personally. Thank you so much for the...
Read moreService: Very ill trained staff. We were in the mood to have a happy extended dinner and ordered a plate of starters with 2 drinks. The waiter and the hostess came thrice to remind that we must order more food and asked if we were informed at the time of the reservation that there is a minimum order. Utterly ridiculous for staff of a supposedly upmarket restaurant to behave in such an indelicate manner. We told them happily multiple times that we have just started and we plan to order, but they kept attempting to explain to us that the minimum order condition has to be met. Needless to say, we quietly made the "minimum" order and left without desert, without tea, without even a refill drink. The last Dubai restaurant we visited, we ordered about 8 dishes for two people - so had the staff done their job of being pleasant, it would've ensured a substantial bill and perhaps a hefty tip for staff. We have been to some very fancy restaurants all over the world but never experienced service such as this.... speechless. Besides, it was raining and the doorman told us he had no umbrellas. Only when we asked him to arrange some and asked how we were expected to walk 50mtrs in the rain, did he decide to run for umbrellas- one medium sized umbrella (for 2 people) to us and one to an Arab couple was provided- sounds romantic but left us quite wet on the walk back to the golf cart on a very wet and windy pier. Then again we had to wait about 10minutes for a cart on a wooden bench where the cushions had been removed. Dinnerware: To top it all the Margherita cocktail glass looked quite inexpensive and basic(they were kind enough to do a Margherita and martini for us even though it wasn't on the menu); Food: the food tried to "look" Michelin but was mediocre in taste and presentation. The garnish was flat and wet and heavy and lacked finesse. The cutlery, the dinnerware, the plating everything very basic. Atmosphere - nothing to boast of - inky black waters outside and with the bright interiors reflected in the glass panes, you don't see anything unless you have your nose pressed against the glass windows. I doubt if there was any music (to be honest, do not remember) - if there was, it was drowned in the noisy chatter of Russian guests celebrating a birthday at the adjoining table. I quite like the peacock feather print on the ceiling though. For a place with dishes costing about 300-1200AED each, it was a disappointing evening. Perhaps our expectations were high- Had we thought of it as a cheap beach cafe, it might have been adequate. Addendum: Editing the review to add that the apology offered against this review is so half hearted and impersonal that its from "Pierchic team" with the customary visit again and let "me" know without offering a contact name.
Such a lovely pier, such shoddy service!...
Read morePierchic was a friend’s recommendation, and amazed by the description, I saved it for celebrating my mom’s birthday. Surprisingly for a Michelin star restaurant, the experience didn’t exactly live up to the expectations and the hype.
Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted by the hostess, who led us to our reserved table. Although we arrived late for half an hour, we were seated immediately, with a stunning view of Burj Al Arab. After the menus were handed out, we waited for 15-20 minutes to be served. To my pure shock, the entire separate wine menu had no semi-sweet or sweet red wines. All the seafood was cooked through and tasted lovely, but my steak was well-done while I requested a medium. Desserts were delicious: the meringue was so good I could’ve eaten 10 more plates of it.
Now, the main reason why I’m writing this review at all: the plans I made with the restaurant beforehand were not only ruined, but dare I say, completely neglected. I made a reservation via Google Maps on April 23rd, with a side note clearly stating that it’s a special occasion, and we’d like to request a small birthday cake, and for discussing it all in detail, here’s my phone number. I was called the next day, we discussed everything from A to Z, and I was relieved that I wasn’t let down. May 6, I receive a call confirming the reservation. I confirm it and ask if we’re going through with the cake and I was reassured that everything is settled and I don’t need to worry. Moreover, the woman on the phone said she’d need the cake confirmation 24 hours prior to the booking. The call was exactly 24 hours before the dinner, so I confirmed everything.
May 7, we’re already done with the main course. A hostess walks over to me and says that there will be no cake and when I ask why, she says that I should have prepaid for it and moreover, they “don’t exactly do things like birthday cakes here”. Stunned, I said I was never notified about anything like that and she said I was supposed to receive a link to the prepayment. I said I didn’t receive it and for some reason she began asking multiple times if the calls were made via phone or WhatsApp. Even after a few apologies, all that we got was a baby portion of tiramisu with a candle on it - depressing as hell. My sister ordered it as a separate dessert, and ate it while all my mom got was to blow out a single candle. And the Russian speaking waitress’s attempts for turn this all on me, looking down (if looks could kill) was the cherry on top.
All in all, this is just a heads up for those who wish to spend their birthday at Pierchic. It may just turn out as a regular dinner for you with a side of disappointment and an unconcern sauce. Oh and the restrooms were nice and tidy: kudos to the...
