IG: eatgosee Pitfire was recommended to me by someone who loves pizza in Dubai. I have had a lot of pizza in Dubai and I have to say the standard is broadly poor. This is especially true if you are looking for takeaway pizza. I was very interested to see whether this place could offer something different for would it just sit among the group of ever-growing distinctly average pizza places in Dubai.
Much to my surprise and relief the pizza here is very good. We ordered two of the 10 inch pizzas-they also offer a 15 inch pizzas too. The rest of the menu includes options such as salads and some sidedishes like macaroni cheese or boneless wings. We only went for the pizzas and therefore this review is only based on two of the pizzas from their menu.
What I like to most about the pizza is that it is clearly made in a wood fire oven. You get that beautiful scorch and blistered crust on the side of the pizza and that’s ever slightly ashy underneath on the base which imparts a little bit of charge flavour. The 10 inch pizza is actually a very good portion for one hungry person. I think you would struggle to have this plus have sides and salads. If you are looking to include a side or a salad with your pizza you may want to order a 10 inch pizza and share it with someone together with the sides.
One of the pizzas we ordered was Bresaola & Rocket. It includes dry cured beef, rockets and of course Parmesan shavings. We also added to this ricotta cheese. Which brings me to another point: You can customise add and takeaway items from there already designed pizzas. This pizza was a little light however what I really appreciated about it was the very clean taste throughout. The rocket comes in a separate container which means that it does not will overcome smudgy when it is placed inside of a box with hot bread. This packaging keeps the final product tasting fresh. It also of course means that you can add or take away as much or as little rocket as you would like. The same is also true for the Parmesan cheese. I would highly recommend this Pizza to someone who enjoys cleaner, low one source and overall more of an Italian anti-pasty flavour to their pizza.
The other pizza was Cherry Bomb. This was an Italian sausage pizza with cherry tomato and cheese but it also included chilli flakes as well which again came in a separate container so that you could sprinkle this on top. The chilli is a very sensible addition as otherwise the pizza is lacking a little bit of space. The Italian sausage is delicious: it has a rich meaty flavour even though There is relatively little sausage on the plate. As with the talion sausage it has a slight fennel, aniseed flavour which helps round out the dish. I personally I’m not a fan of aniseed or fennel but there was the right balance in this pizza with which with everything else made it very enjoyable. I personally slightly prefer this one to the dry cured beef pizza. But that is because I wanted a meaty a pizza on this day.
My only observation about this pizza which is slightly negative is that the crust is not very crispy. There are other pizza places in Dubai that manage to achieve an extremely crispy crossed even when delivered to you in a box on the back of a motorcycle. That said this is by no means a soggy or limp pizza. It’s it is thoroughly enjoyable and it manages to keep it structure regardless of the number of toppings for the amount of cheese that is added to the base. This is not an easy feat for many places in Dubai.
I am thoroughly looking forward to having another order from pet fire and I agree it is probably one of the top three or four pizza places I have ordered from in Dubai. #pizza #pitfire...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Pitfire Pizza in JLT, and I must say it was an outstanding experience from start to finish!
Ambiance: The atmosphere is inviting and lively, making it a perfect spot for both casual dining and special occasions. The rustic decor combined with warm lighting creates a cozy yet vibrant environment.
Service: The service was exceptional. Val, our server was friendly, knowledgeable about the menu, and attentive without being intrusive. They were happy to offer recommendations which made our choices even easier!
Food: Now, let’s talk about the star of the show: the pizza! The menu offers a wide variety of delicious options, including vegetarian and gluten-free choices. I tried the "Margherita" with its perfectly thin crust, fresh basil, and gooey mozzarella cheese. It was cooked to perfection and every bite was heavenly. My friend opted for the "Meat Lovers," and she couldn’t stop raving about the generous toppings and flavors.
In addition to the pizza, we shared some appetizers—the garlic knots were a crowd-pleaser, and the dipping sauce was simply divine!
Drinks: The drink menu is also impressive, with a selection of craft beers and unique cocktails that pair perfectly with the pizza. I enjoyed a refreshing cocktail that complemented my meal wonderfully.
Value: Considering the quality of the food and the overall experience, I felt that the prices were more than reasonable. You truly get what you pay for here!
Conclusion: Overall, Pitfire Pizza in JLT exceeded my expectations. With its delicious food, friendly service, and great ambiance, I can’t recommend it enough! Whether you're a pizza lover or just looking for a nice place to eat, make sure to stop by. I will definitely be returning for...
Read moreIf you're a pizza 'enthusiast' like myself (and you live in Dubai), then you've surely heard of (if not already had a slice from) @pitfire.pizza.dubai in JLT. I've been told (way too many times) that this is the absolute best pizza around and I can now confirm that the hype is real and totally valid . . In my first visit (with many many more to follow I'm sure), the pizza arrives in just under 7 minutes, fresh and piping hot with an 'avalanche' of toppings. The crust is crispy, thin, airy and has just the right amount of scorching on it. You can tell that the dough has been meticulously made to impart its authentic flavour and texture that you can never get from a frozen dough pizza . . I tried a half and half with the Hell's Kitchen (Cheese pizza with pepperoni, mushrooms, black olives, jalapenos and chilli flakes) which was a wonderful take on my favourite Pepperoni pizza. The jalapenos and chilli flakes set the tongue on fire but the cheese and pepperoni balanced it out well. The second half was the Buffalo Chicken Pizza (Tomato base with cheese blend, gorgonzola, jalapeno peppers, grilled chicken and finished with a drizzle of house-made spicy buffalo chicken wing sauce) which had a delicious spicy taste to it. I tried both types of pizza with @mikeshothoney that is available at Pitfire and it was awesome. The sweet and spicy flavours from the chilli-infused honey on the cheesy bread are unbelievable (if you like sweet flavours) . . The taste of both types of pizza was really great – every-damn-thing on the 'za' just came together. The fine folk at Pitfire Pizza make a frekkin good pizza. Definitely up there in the top pizzas for me. Order in or go there ASAP, crust me, you...
