Excellent experience. Decent value-for-money.
At approx. US $180 for a 40-second ride, this is not something most of us will do every weekend. But it is definitely something to experience at least once!
The staff are very professional and the entire experience is scripted and managed down to the detail. It is obvious that safety is a priority for the XLine team, and no detail in that regard is left unmanaged.
On weekends and during peak seasons you'll want to book a day or two in advance because the time slots fill up quickly. During the week, particularly during low season it is possible to just walk up to the XLine kiosk in the mall and reserve your time on the spot.
There is a locker at the kiosk in the mall where you leave everything but your mobile phone and you get it all back when you return the helmet with a GoPro attached that they issue to you for the ride.
The cost of your ride includes a T-shirt, cap, along with a video and several still photographs of yourself doing the ride (emailed to you a day or two after). The video is a mix of actual footage of you (there is a GoPro mounted to your helmet while you do the ride) and stock footage, with some background music. It's a bit cheesy.
My biggest complaints are that a) you have to use XLine's own GoPro, mounted on the helmet, pointed back at you, and b) you have no option but to have the video that they produce. I would happily pay another $10 or so to be able to mount a second camera on my wrist. They should make a second camera an option, as well as the option to use your own GoPro in their mount. They should offer the option to receive the unedited camera footage in place of, or in addition to their (cheesy) produced video.
Dear XLine: I'll add one star to my review for each of the following:
Offer the option to add a second camera. (I suggest on a wrist mount. Otherwise facing forward or down via a body mount or second helmet mount)
Offer the option to receive raw, unedited video in place of or in addition to the video that you produce.
If you are used to GoPro: The workaround is that as of this writing they're using GoPro Hero 7 "Black" cameras in a standard GoPro mount. After you end the ride, before you return your helmet, you can simply sync the XLina GoPro with your own phone (if you have the GoPro app) and download your raw footage. Or, if you have a friend waiting for you with a computer, just pop the camera out of the mount, take out the micro SD card and physically download the file(s) to your computer before you return the...
Read moreA must try when in Dubai! Friendly staff at all stages, strict on time schedule and well organised. Their Office where you will check in, or book if you havent already booked online, is located in P2 Floor of the carpark within the Dubai Marina Mall, underneath Waitrose. Email confirmations received after booking. Lot of waiver agreements have to be completed, as expected. Lockers are within the office to store your belongings. You are advised to wear sunglasses as the ride is very windy, and they tell you to take your mobile phone. From here you are taken by mini bus to the launch site which is just a 5-10 minute drive. The group is put into a lift to go up 42 floors, then there's a few steps at the top before you are out onto the platform. Once you reach the top you have time to admire the view and take some photos before being suited up and you’re ready to go in less than 10 minutes. Your mobile phone is also strapped to you in a bum-bag holder, and your sunglasses held on with a strap. They take a short video of you pre flight to ask about you, how you feel and why you are doing the ride etc. For me, the scariest part was getting on to the start platform and hoisted up, dangling, just before being set off. The ride itself is comfortable, I felt completely safe and gives you stunning views of the high rise buildings and the marina as you glide over the water back to Dubai Marina. (The end stop point is next to the Mall Entrance which takes you in to Waitrose). All photos and videos are included in the price which is good and I felt balanced out the price of the entire experience. These are sent to you 2 days later. You can also choose to get a 360 video but you pay extra for this and you have to pay for this before you do the zipline, as I think you would get a different camera attachment to your helmet. Thoroughly recommend this XLine Zipline. Well worth the money, fantastic experience and excellent adrenaline buzz. Loved it. I'll never forget what I did for my 50th Birthday! 2nd April 2025. XLine Dubai. A mix of terrifying and exhilarating. Amazing all round experience and milestone memory creation. Also, I believe if you go back for another shot, you get a...
Read moreXLine Dubai Marina offers an exhilarating zip-lining experience that has captivated both residents and tourists seeking adventure in Dubai. As one of the world’s longest, steepest, and fastest urban zip lines, it spans nearly a mile and propels participants from a height of 560 feet at speeds up to 50 miles per hour. The journey begins at the Jumeirah Beach Residence and concludes at Dubai Marina, providing riders with panoramic views of the city’s iconic skyline.
Many participants have lauded the experience for its breathtaking views and the professionalism of the staff. For instance, a reviewer on TripAdvisor described it as an “amazing first-time zip line experience,” highlighting the well-organized nature and the sense of safety throughout the activity. Another reviewer mentioned that the staff was excellent and ensured the experience was immortalized with a fun video, though they noted it was “a tad pricey but it’s expected for Dubai.”
However, some visitors have reported less favorable experiences. A reviewer recounted difficulties in locating the check-in desk, describing it as being in an underground car park with no signage. They also mentioned witnessing staff displaying aggressive behavior towards other guests and faced challenges in communication regarding re-booking after being unable to participate due to weight restrictions.
Despite these isolated incidents, the majority of feedback emphasizes the thrill and uniqueness of the experience. The use of a superman-style harness allows participants to fly belly-down, simulating the sensation of soaring through the air. While the experience is priced at a premium, many find it to be a worthwhile investment for the memories created.
In summary, XLine Dubai Marina stands out as a premier adventure attraction in Dubai, offering an unparalleled zip-lining experience over the city’s stunning marina. Prospective participants are encouraged to book in advance, familiarize themselves with the location to avoid check-in difficulties, and ensure they meet the health and safety requirements to fully enjoy this...
