The food was outstanding, with bold flavors and a well-executed Southeast Asian touch. The decor complemented the theme, creating an immersive dining atmosphere. However, the service left much to be desired.
The seafood nasi goreng was generous with scallops, shrimp, and squid, and the rice had a perfectly coated seasoning. The mixed vegetable stir-fry was excellent—served piping hot. The pho, while decent, didn’t stand out as much.
I really appreciated the restaurant's layout, with an open kitchen at the center, allowing diners to watch the chefs in action. The wok skills on display were impressive, and the small design details evoked the ambiance of an authentic Southeast Asian eatery.
Unfortunately, the service felt distant and unwelcoming. While I understood the casual, no-frills approach reminiscent of a Southeast Asian hawker stall, I didn’t expect it at a hotel restaurant. As a hotel guest, I was dressed comfortably for lunch, and I couldn't shake the feeling that my attire—or perhaps my polite demeanor—was misinterpreted. When ordering, I correctly pronounced dishes like pho and nasi goreng, yet the staff immediately corrected me, setting a negative tone for the rest of the meal. After receiving my three dishes, I thanked the staff, only to be met with silence. It was an odd experience and disappointing given the otherwise excellent food and ambiance.
Would I return for the flavors? Absolutely. For the service?...
Read moreThe location is pleasant, in the lower level of the Grand Hyatt hotel and it's a convenient walk from where we live.
The food is 'fine'. Nothing outstanding, but perfectly pleasant.
The service is hit and miss - the floor manager took our order, and in that time-honoured India Culinary school technique, he launched up to the table and loudly interrupted our conversation asking for our order. Please - approach the table quietly, and we will finish our sentences and quickly attend to you !! we know you are there, but don't just talk over us.
We asked for separate chilli sauce, on the side to spice the meal up and this was noted. However, as we kind of expected, the attention to detail failed and we had to get up and go and ask for it as it wasn't delivered.
We asked him again for toothpicks when he cleared the table and again, he just forgot and we had to go hunting.....
The food is not good value really, for the quality.
The usual Dubai rules apply folks - drink lots before you go, and just share one or 2 small still, local waters, and even that is an outrageous rip-off - 16 aed for a 1 aed bottle. So minimis your water bill as that is a well known sting.
So, overall, the food is fine, the service is slack, the prices are high - you can get a much better deal at comparable quality by going to smaller chains or getting...
Read moreWe came here for lunch with the entertainment app discount. When we ordered, we were told the main menu and soups can enjoy buy one get one free discount. So we chose Two dishes from the main menu, and we tried to get something extra for our two toddler boys, so we need something not spicy and kids friendly. The waiter offered some plain egg fried rice for the kids, which was not on the menu...we presume it might be cheaper and didn't ask the price just said yes. And when we get the bill, we found the plain egg fried rice was AED50, and the buy one get one free deal was just taking this item off the list. We thought it was not very reasonable, this dish was not even on the menu at all, so we thought it was just extra and one dish we chose from the main menu should be free. Plus, a plain egg fried rice with a tiny kids portion at 50AED was very much overpriced i would say which we didn't expect neither. The staff were polite all the time. But we didn't expect this happening from a 5 star hotel restaurant and wouldn't bother to reason with the stuff about the issue.
The food was just ok. I had Vietnamese beef rice noodles, not bad but not as good as i used to have in China or Vietnam. Black pepper fried noodles was a bit too much sauce in it. Unfortunately, don't think we will...
