Disappointing Experience – Not Worth the Price
I had high expectations when I chose to dine at the famous dinner tent at Grand Hagar Hotel, expecting a premium experience, especially during Ramadan. However, our visit turned out to be extremely disappointing, starting from the parking situation.
Parking & Arrival:
Upon arrival, we faced a long queue just to find a parking spot, which was frustrating, especially since we assumed a luxury hotel would provide valet parking or at least a smooth parking experience. Being fasting with my family, we needed to break our fast on time, so I called the reception for assistance, but the response was dismissive and unhelpful—the receptionist simply told us to head to our table without addressing our concern.
Seating & Service: • Despite arriving late due to the parking chaos, we were seated at the very last table, far from the buffet. • There was no water on the table, and we had to wait 15 minutes just to receive one glass of water each, which is unacceptable, especially during iftar. • I requested a table change, as there were empty tables closer to the buffet, explaining that I had kids who would struggle to walk back and forth, but my request was ignored for another 15 minutes. Eventually, we were moved to a middle table, which still required walking through multiple tables just to get food.
Food Quality & Value for Money: • The food variety was underwhelming for a high-end iftar buffet. The main course was mostly biryani, kabsa, and various rice dishes with limited options beyond that. • For a bill of approx 1,000 AED (2 adults, 2 kids aged 10 and 12, charged full price), I expected exceptional service and variety, but my kids only ate pasta and fruit, which felt like a waste of money.
Finally, i was expecting a 5-star experience in terms of both service and food, but this was far from it. The poor organization, lack of hospitality, and mediocre food selection made it a waste of money, time, and energy. I do not recommend this place and will certainly not...
Read moreGood Food and atmosphere. We have been to every five star Iftar across Dubai for many years. From Palm Jumeirah Hotels to Sheraton Grand hotel iftars, we have explored many iftars for every Ramadan across the time we have been here. One of the best ones this year is Laylati Tent, impeccably designed and very well attended to. The servers are attentive and courteous. Drinks are served eagerly. Food is tasty, the chicken tajine is very tasty, the ouzi is good along with Irani rice. Variety of food covers all tastes and palates. Loved the dosa too. The sujuk has a slight spice infused with sumac and tangy taste to it. Cannot finish the review without mention of icecream which is fresh and lovely. To top it all, the date pudding is the best - soft, creamy, and not too sweet. This amazing service and food tops even the Sheraton JBR tent and others across the city. Do share the recipe for the...
