My wife and I came for an afternoon’s pasta making workshop (also utterly fantastic but separate to this review) during a weekend in Bath, down from Glasgow, and once complete, settled ourselves at the small bar for a pint before heading for home. We got chatting to the owner Ian, who let us taste the local tipples, gave us some great chat, introduced us to the charming lady next door and made us feel incredibly welcomed. One hour turned into 2, turned in 3 and into 4, by which time we’d met all manner of passing punters, local residents and a few new faces to the area - putting the world to rights over more than a few ciders and white wines. The vibe was cosy, friendly, incredibly welcoming and with a great background playlist to boot.
The Richmond Arms is clearly a special pub, nestled snugly in between a row of historic houses, one that’s warmly enjoyed by those who live near by. To get to it, you will need to climb one of the steepest streets anywhere in existence, up from Bath town centre, (we cheated and got the bus) but I guarantee you it’ll be well worth it for an afternoon spent...

My fiance (a key worker) and I stayed in this room for 4 nights in June 2020 so we could care for vulnerable people. Our stay was fantastic. Cathy met us on arrival and showed us to our room, which had just been decorated and is really stylish with the feeling of a boutique B&B (but at half the cost.) The bed was large and very comfortable, excellent quality pillows and bed linens. The room has two big windows overlooking the pub's garden and with views of the Bath hills.
The room is really well equipped, everything you'd expect in a good quality B&B, and my favourite touch - a Nespresso machine! The bathroom was huge and had a powerful shower and good toilet (you can't take these things for granted in Bath's old houses).
Parking is free with no restrictions.
The Richmond Arms is situated in a lovely quiet street 1 mile from Bath city centre (the longest terrace in Europe), walking distance from the Royal Crescent, Circus and Bath city centre. There is a bus route which stops a 7 minute walk away and a taxi to town...
Read moreThe Richmond arms is a lovely pub / restaurant in a quintessential area of Bath away from the hustle and bustle. We visited this pub with a group of friends and our 9month old baby. We had a really lovely time. Sat outside, although lots of seating in doors. We had the pizzas they were delicious and reasonably priced along with the local craft beers. Would recommend coming out to visit this little quiet area of bath. They also do pasta making parties, which look great fun.
