TR Hayes — Local services in Bath

Ordered a bed from TR Hayes over a year ago. Had repeated issues which led to a repair and three separate placements. This was due to a terrible hinge design which I had photo’d and explained over email on a couple of occasions. We wanted a refund after the second, but TR Hayes refused.

Nothing else was within budget so we had to reluctantly endure the same process again (due to refusal of refund). With the last bed (same model), it connected so poorly that the delivery men took it away after trying several completely different types of screws. Eventually, TR Hayes issues a refund, but despite all the problems, afternoon/mornings taken off work, as well as suddenly being left without bed (and 7 month pregnant partner now sleeping on a mattress which they knew about)…TR Hayes still felt obligated to uphold their ‘fair usage’ policy and clawed back £160. I’m assuming because, regardless of all our troubles, they still thought we had at least ‘some’ monies worth out of it. Very poor show. Especially as this was a £800 bed at the time. Not what you would expect.

I wouldn’t buy from them again. Neither could I recommend. I’m my experience - overpriced but basic, flawed design. Clearly lacking QC when contracting certain items from suppliers. The one star is simply for the delivery drivers who were always polite and happy to help. Shame this attitude doesn’t pervade throughout the management team. I’m sure they will respond to this with a cut and paste reply, feigning interest so as to not lose face on google, but they didn’t care about the issue in private when it counted. I was polite and patient throughout. But in retrospect, I wish i had made more fuss. My advice - if you have issues, be firm with them. They don’t do the right thing readily…having the nerve to employ ‘company policy’ when it comes across really quite absurd and petty. We accepted the reduced refund just to get our money back and buy elsewhere. We did and now have a new bed. Similar budget, but the manufacturing is night and day...

T R Hayes is a haven for style, carefully curated brands that manage to achieve almost the impossible , something to suit all tastes, quality and style but more importantly the staff work more like a community than a ‘job’ My story was something of unusual needs. One of three sisters, I arrived from London where I live, having collected my eldest sister from Heathrow, who had just landed from Australia. Coming to Bath to support my middle sister, who suffered severe brain damage sometime ago after being hit by a bus, she was moving to live independently, and in need of help to make decisions and ordering. We had one week to completely furnish her flat and create a beautiful home for her. Lead time was not an option. The business has two stores across a road from each other. Our first visit we met a charming woman who guided us to pieces we were interested in, speaking with her manager Ben she happily held a table for us and Suggested we went across to the other store to explore further. We were welcomed by Mark - who assured us he could help. The store is a warren of rooms, all styled exquisitely, allowing one to imagine the Pieces in your home. Giving space to browse we chose a selection from the floor. The next problem was delivery ‘we needed it to arrive the next day’. Drinks were made for us from the complimentary coffee shop, a few phone calls later Mark and the team made it happen. The next day Chris and Matt the delivery team turned up on time, and whilst Mark warned us there would be no time to assemble as they had a tight deadline. They not only carefully installed the furniture in the right place but assembled. The kindness and ‘can do’ attitude means so much to us as a family and to my sister, whose world was shrunk by her accident but is now most definitely a comfortable one and stylish to boot. Bought quality furniture from Hayes nearly 50 years ago and my family brought me up on TRHayes and would not look anywhere else with knowledge that we always get quality and great service at a good price. My wife and I returned to Bath and purchased a flat last year after spending 38 years in South Africa. We contacted Hayes and asked them if they could furnish our refurbished flat. Well, the rest is history. I arranged for Mark O Grady to have the keys .He called us in South Africa and organised all furnishings with minimal interference from us. We arrived last week to a real Wow ! Mark didn't do everything but he certainly co-ordinated an amazing outcome.
