We were at the Oak for my birthday celebration. Only a fairly small group of us, but I'm sure, enough of us to be making noise. The atmosphere in this place is amazing, there's so much good about it. Drinks are well priced, staff are awesome, & are all just lovely people. The management is great, & very attentive, responding to my email query in very good time, & generally running a fab establishment. I always feel welcome at the Oak, never feel the 'snarkiness' that can be found in some pubs. These guys know how to make you feel right at home (this may be the reason I've never seen any trouble, or 'scuffles' there... Folk are less likely to do these things when they're relaxed & in good company). Frankly, I love this place, I always have a good time there, never feel 'out of place', largely due to the wonderful people who work there. & they have the huge bonus that they're only a 10mins walk from my house. Highly recommend you take a trip here to the Oak, you won't regret that you did. They have great local beers & cider, an atmosphere you have to experience to understand, & amazing staff... As an added bonus, there are dogs here, which sometimes get to wander around the place. They just love people, & flopping at your feet for a belly rub, is not unheard of. All in all, great place. Once you've tried it, you'll always want to go back. Thanks for making my birthday one to remember guys, I really...

Interesting, initially confusing layout, but they squeeze in two Bars, an outside partially-covered area, a separate carpark, toilets, and a stage area. They encourage small bands and experimental music, and one of the bands in the night I was there, were from Germany, so it's not just local musicians as you might expect.
I'd been thinking of popping in for a while, ever since they made themselves more visible on social media, by posting a mug a day during the lockdown, but it wasn't until a vocalist from one of the bands invited me, that I went.
They're only open from late afternoon onwards: That's surprising until you remember all Pubs used to...
Read moreWe love the Royal Oak! Closest you'll get to a true local pub in Bath. A good natter with the barkeep always guaranteed. Beers are the best in Bath (great range from lager and ale to sours and Belgium) - plus great value for money. Great vibe in the pub! Just recommend checking if there is live music playing if you're going in the late evening - if there is, unless you're happy to sit outside you will be watching the band and...
