I’ve been a long time fan of this lovely gelato shop but disappointed in recent changes that have left it feeling less friendly to gluten free and coeliac customers.
The new menu and flavour names are no longer marked for gluten free (however vegan markers have remained). Staff didn’t appear knowledgable on allergens or offer an allergen booklet to assess myself. I was particularly disappointed that flavours that were previously gluten free no longer are (kinder) - but there’s no note that the recipe has changed and includes gluten to make customers aware.
I’m sad that it’s not somewhere I’m confident visiting anymore - however non allergy folk, this is probably the best...
Read moreQuality of the gelato is very good; very smooth and creamy. The add-ins in the flavours could be a bit more generous as with the few I’ve tried, I might as well have ordered plain vanilla. Main complaint is accuracy when ordering online. We’ve ordered on 3 separate occasions and every time at least one of our flavours has not been what we ordered. Considering the £16 or so price tag, and seeing as it has happened every time, this isn’t a small mistake to overlook. Read moreA year I didnt go to Al Gelato...a year! I missed it so much! Got some today and it tasted as if I didn't go a day without it! It is my favourite ice cream place hands down! I am lactose intolerant and now there's more options than ever! My favourites definitely still being the sorbets!! The staff is always so so lovely and it's a pleasure going in. Considering covid, the store feels very safe and staff are wearing masks and not allowing more than 2 people in at a time. Can't wait to go back, definitely won't go another year...
