Feel bad saying anything negative but I personally have nothing positive to say. I'm giving 2 stars as I was with friends and 1 of them liked their meal. They ordered fish tacos (pictured). They said the fish was very nice. I ordered slow cooked beef tacos, but I had a very different idea in my head of what I was getting than what showed up. It was more like slow cooked brown fat and grease. Maybe we got a bad batch but as soon as I took a bite I looked over at my friend who had ordered the same and was relieved to see her face was mirroring my own confusion and disgust. She managed to eat a little more than I did, my dog got most of mine later that night. My other friend had pulled pork and in her words "it tastes like feet". Then she tried our beef and decided the pork was actually better, apparently it tasted the same but the texture wasn't as bad. I wondered if I was overreacting a bit, and thought our other friend who had ordered the fish thought we were overreacting too, so she tried a bit, chewed, and spat it out. I'm so confused by the great reviews, so I have to think maybe we just got a bad night. There was no poultry on the menu either which I thought a little odd. We felt pressured into getting the guacamole starter, which tasted good but was nothing out of this world which is how it's portrayed. It was useful for me though as I put it in my wrap instead of the grease fat. Eating wraps with grease pouring down our arms having to swallow before you taste anything or feel any food texture isn't what I had hoped...
Read moreVery disappointing. Underwhelming! Ordered pork belly tacos. Small amount of meat filling on 2 unappetising, tasteless, black soft tacos. I expected 2 crunchy normal looking tacos found commonly in many other Mexican themed restaurants. Also a quesadilla special ordered and it was not a standard quesadilla I’m familiar with, meat tortilla parcels also presented on 2 black soft tacos. No rice available as part of dish or a side. Never been to a Mexican without option rice. Salsa would have been nice. Potatoes cubes were pleasant. £10 for a tiny slush cocktail apparently with Bacardi but hardly tasted of it. £50 for 2 tacos - not enjoyed, 1 small cocktail, 1 tin of beer and a side of potato cubes. 10% service charge automatically added. Not usual to add by default! Should be customers option to add. Service was pleasant but basic but not worth £4.50. Didn’t enjoy the eating experience but wouldn’t embarrass myself to request removing unexpected service charge. Definitely not my style of Mexican food - maybe the food served was some kind regional variation- but if you are expecting tasty filled, crunchy tacos, well filled traditional quesadillas and burritos with the option for a tasty side of Mexican rice, then perhaps this may not be for you. I won’t be returning and can’t recommend especially as I left unsatisfied and...
Read moreGreat food, shame about the staff. We were over from London celebrating my sister’s 40th and honestly the service we were shown was nothing short of obnoxious. We really enjoyed the food, which having visited Mexico City, was a pleasant surprise for a restaurant based in Belfast. However, the wait staff (notably a girl with a bob and glasses) were incredibly rude to my sister, dad who was paying for it all, my husband and a fair few of my sister’s friends which left a bad taste in our mouths, especially since we were the biggest paying table there and it was a special occasion.
I realise this place is more authentic and on-trend than average for Belfast (maybe the staff think too highly of themselves because of this?) but I’m afraid to say a taco joint like this is a dime a dozen back home in London and having visited a fair few, I’ve never had a bad experience.
I feel like junior staff members need training in general manners and customer service or there will be plenty more of these complaints... sad times as the chef is clearly highly skilled and gets a huge...
