Just spent nearly ÂŁ25 in here and when I stepped out the door literally outside the door, the bag I paid 15p for broke and one of the scones hit the floor, I went back in and was offered a new bag by the lady on the till who advised the bags were flimsy and sheâd get me a bread bag instead. (Why sell bags not fit for purpose or advise me of that before I bought it?) When I asked could I get a replacement scone (politely I may add) the response from the lady with was âyou can BUY another sconeâ. I asked the lady could I have a replacement considering it was their bag I bought that broke and she very rudely stuck her hand out and said âgo on thenâ and not with the sentiment of generosity I assure you it was said with attitude and blatant rudeness. Sometimes itâs not what you say itâs how you say it, sometimes itâs the little gestures of goodwill that keep customers coming back, and safe to say I refused the offer out of principle, if youâre staff donât want to treat your customers with kindness and manners then I shall go elsewhere. For half the price and non of the attitude. I would be very disappointed seeing my staff treating customers this way. If you are considering a visit, consider again.
Update considering response: The two versions may differ, that is not surprising. Seeing as no offer of an apology is on the cards for me, I will take your life advice you so kindly bestowed upon me and pass on my sincerest, deepest, most heartfelt apologies for any misunderstanding to the barista, I hope she may consider the encounter for next time a customer requires some kindness and a goodwill gesture. I will return your offer of a reminder of lifeâs rules with this, every customer complaint is an opportunity to turn it into a compliment, itâs all how you handle the situation. customers will always return to an establishment that can hold its hands up, say they made a mistake, or handled something badly and ask to put it rightâŠ.. oh and an apology goes a...
Read moreExcellent bakeryâalthough some of the offerings can be a bit heavy on the sugar. Made this insane nut loaf around xmas a few years back that was sublime â that's what is cool about this place, they're not afraid to release one-offs or special editions. You can pick up a pie or a pastry plus a coffee for an al fresco Ormeau lunch for a fraction of the price of a sit-down. As others have noted, there can be a bit of grump every now and again...i've been coming here for years and it's background noise at this stage. The grumpiness is offset by some very nice staff members. You'll get used to it :) Like many of the greats, they don't subscribe to generic 'training video' point-of-sale stuff, thank goodness! Authenticity is the name of the game here. Don't try to go there Sat AM, you'll be on a long line for...
Read moreI had not discovered this bakery before but I was walking around and saw a long line on Saturday morning then I had a look in the window at the baked goods and I understood why there was a long line. We had a bomboloni, chocolate swirl and some sort of apple pastry and also the honey and chilli focaccia and all were out of this world delicious. They not only look amazing but they tasted amazing and were just as good if not better than the pastries we discovered in France. We will be back, we would highly recommend and we are so pleased to have this local business near us. A must visit if staying in the...
