I've been here before and the food was good. The main reason we went last week was that it is very dog friendly (your doggo does need to be well behaved as it's usually very busy, regardless of the time you visit). In this case, it was a late-ish lunch after shopping. I wanted beef cheeks (they are incredible) but, surprise surprise, they were sold out. I decided to order something away from my norm so ordered a potato & onion bhaji burger. I expected maybe a potato rosti topped with an onion bhaji in a bun......NOPE!! I have to say, it was probably in my top 5 of worst ever meals. My daughter was treating me so I tried to go down the "ooh, lovely" route but it was not to be. It turned out to be a 2 inch thick, only word I can use is, SLAB of tasteless gloomy mashed potato that was fried to loosely resemble a burger. It was unseasonal and I've simply no idea what the bhaji was. It didn't taste of onion, let alone gorgeous crispy Indian spices. To add insult to injury, I'd ordered garlic parmesan fries. I expected crispy golden fries tossed in oodles of garlic butter & topped with parmesan. Again...NOPE!! I got soggy skinny fries literally drowned in a garlic mayo. The garlic was so heavy I'm fairly sure I stank of it for days lol. I totally hate leaving negative posts, and I do repeat that food here previously was nice. I'm being generous with 3 stars. Not at all sure what happened that day but I honestly think it'll be a long while before I go...

Well it was my first time there after a recommendation but wouldn't go back. I'm giving it two stars because I'm hoping that I may have missed something. I suggest after reading the seasonal menu on line add an extra £2 to most of their main courses.. as that's what happened when we went. They'd changed their prices but forgot alter there online menu.. also in very small writing at the bottom they've stuck on a 10% surcharge for 6 or more people.. (we would always give a to anyhow) but could be a suprise to some people. The waitress also slammed the tub of cutlery down on the table in front of me.. (guess she was having a bad afternoon/evening at 1730 mid week) it wasn't just me that noticed either..After checking out the menu.. I thought battered fish.. when the person came to take the orders I asked for fish.. but then told "Oh we don't have any tonight".. it would have been nice to be told before making my choice. I quickly chose sirloin steak.. asked for medium... It came and was RED .. with blood still ousing out.. I ended up leaving it and giving it to my husband.. the chips looked and tasted like they'd been cooked, warmed up and cooked again.. not the best! Before I forget.. they couldn't even get there drinks order correct either. Two spritzers were ordered.. two comes and two jugs of juice.. No spritzers came but two Sprite's.. not exactly what was ordered... A really disappointing evening.. and cost more than I expected.. I...

Avoid if you are a large party!!

We had dinner here recently with a very large party. I've been there before for lunch, and had high hopes. The booking process was great, and the staff member coordinating it was extremely helpful. The atmosphere was brilliant, although the noise was absolutely deafening, because we were seated in the middle of the bar area. The food was fine.

When we received the bill, we were advised that only 3 card payments could be taken. There were almost 40 of us, and we spent just less than £1k. This wasn't being paid by a company - we're NHS and were paying for ourselves. We didn't need to split the bill, but most of us needed to pay by card, as is typical these days. The staff were unable to accommodate this, for unknown reasons. The arbitrary 3 card limit made it incredibly difficult to sort out the bill, resulting in many trips to cash points in high heels on a freezing night, and it honestly soured what had, until then, been a lovely night.

There were also several other issues regarding the bill, for example we were charged for someone who had cancelled (we were advised that we wouldn't be, as I'd tried to contact Henry's all day), and a drinks bill was erroneously allocated to a certain table, which resulted in the people there pretty much being accused of being dishonest (staff had in fact allocated the bill to the wrong table). Overall, we will take our custom...

This is a nice bar with a pleasant ambiance and a good tap selection but is hampered by poor customer service. Bartenders standing talking to their mates about the football rather than actually serving people standing at the bar when it's not even busy. Glass washers standing at the end of the bar doing nothing but lifting glasses and putting them back down again. Stood for a full five minutes at an empty bar whilst two barmen shuffled their feet doing nothing before noticing I was there. Learn some good customer service and respect please.

Absolute joke, I would not recommend this place to anybody. We had our work Christmas party in Henry’s last weekend. 4 bar tables were put together to sit 12 people, needless to say it was cosy for a 3 course meal. I had the vegetarian main, see picture below, which was an absolute disgrace for a £37 menu: a burnt sausage roll sized mushroom wellington, a whole roast potato cut in half, about 3 branches of tenderstem broccoli and a massive boat of gravy, not sure why as there was almost nothing in my plate to put it on … complete rip-off

The visit to Henry's can be best described as a game of two halves. The chowder was incredibly tasty with lots of fish and an excellent smoked flavour running through it. I'd even go as far as saying it tastes as nice as the Chowder at Mary Barry's of Kilmore Key which is high praise indeed from me as I've never before had a chowder to match it. The chicken with tarragon however was average. The roast potatoes tasteless. The staff however were very friendly. I'd certainly recommend calling here if you're in the area.
