Nando's Belfast - Boucher Crescent — Restaurant in Belfast

Well, where do I start. Me and my partner went into this location around 8:15pm a few nights ago and from the minute we walked in until the minute we left the service was terrible. We waited over 40 minutes to get our food, Where we were sat I could see the window where the ready food was placed, the staff were more concerned with cleaning tables and putting away sauces than distributing the fresh food to the tables. Our meals sat there for at least 5-10 minutes before being brought to our table, now I can understand if the restaurant was busy - It wasn't! I actually went to the counter and the girl behind the till turned to one of her colleagues and asked when the food was ready and they said it's been ready for ten minutes - So to put it lightly the staff members seen but just walked past it on numerous occasions and to add to that point I actually seen one of the staff have their hands on the face as if to say they had nothing to do, even though peoples food which was beside them was ready to go . By the time the food reached our table needless to say it was cold but at that point we were just super hungry we didn't care. To be honest I know it was near the end of everyone's shift but that level of service in an very reputable business like Nando's should not be happening. I think the staff are more concerned in having a chat with each other and management seem very relaxed even though they were leaving 6 or 7 tables waiting 30 plus minutes for meals. I'am all for anyone having a chat and a bit of fun during work but when the service is that bad then senior management has to put the foot down otherwise this location will get more and more negative reviews. We arrived and it was about a 20 minute wait. Luckily a guy in the queue told us we needed to join the virtual queue so we did. When we finally got seated and ordered our food it took one hour from the time we placed our order to get our food. I forgot to order drinks for the kids so I ordered this separately and it came right away however the drinks for my husband didn’t come till we asked for it over 30 minutes later. We ordered a normal meal- photo attached- and yet others who were seated 30 minutes after us received their food long before us. After the hour when our food arrived we weren’t given any cutlery so we had another 2 minutes trying to get their attention.

The meal wasn’t as nice as we expected and this was even with starving tummies. The corn tasted off and the chicken was bland. Overall, we were not impressed at all which is a shame as we had been craving Nando’s for a while and we went out for a birthday meal.

Oh and it also took about 20 minutes to get the starter. It took so long we thought it was going to come with the main but we had to wait an extra 40 minutes. People that arrived after us ate and left before we got our food. It would have been nice to have been told if there was a delay. Went here for lunch with my mum and advised the manager she was gluten free. He recommended the butternut squash side and I advised him barley is gluten. This should have been an indication. He promised that the only gluten option was the rolls. He was incorrect, mum had the chickpea burger and when she started feeling sick and sore about ten minutes after eating I took to the internet where nandos advised none of there restaurants are gluten free. Further to this I had ordered spicy rice with my meal. I had taken a couple of mouthfuls mixed with sauce before I realised something wasn't right. I smelt the rice and the odour was awful. The manager came over and offered me something else, When I declined he didn't offer me the money back for the rice or any other solution. We had to ask for another plate as the rice was over mine and he left us with the old one with the off rice. Honestly I won't be back and it's nearly put me off nandos completely for the lack of staff knowledge and the fact that they let off food be served.
