horrible service.
hostess waited 15 minutes before she sat two parties (of 2), even though there were empty tables for a while. during our meal, we noticed a huge table (could seat 8+) had not been set for almost 20 minutes, leaving people waiting in a queue leading outside the restaurant and into the freezing cold. almost 30 minutes of waiting to be seated, it was not the end of our wait.
we (table of 3) ordered 2 starters, which came quite quickly, within 5-10 minutes. however, our mains (1 pizza and 1 salad altogether) took almost 30 minutes to come AFTER we finished our starters. two tables that had been seated a while AFTER us were served their pizzas before us! we were told that they could only make 6 pizzas in the oven at a time, hence why the long waits. the restaurant can seat at least 50 people. as a restaurant located in the city centre, i find it incredibly unbelievable that only 6 pizzas could be cooked at a time. we asked two separate wait staff where our food was, one of whom never got back to us, and the other who fed us some nonsense excuse that made no sense.
last but not least, food was quite honestly very subpar. burrata flatbread did not pair well with the honey tomato sauce, and lamb starter was so tiny, like 5 pieces of cubed lamb. spicy salami pizza was just a glorified pepperoni pizza. i would've considered going back if not for the terrible service. only upside is the affordable price, but for the same price, you're better...
Read moreAmazing place! We went to Birmingham to attend the Christmas Market. The city was jam packed! The 3 of us literally couldn't find a single spot to eat. I ventured into Franco Manca and the lovely lady at the front deska greeted me with a warm smile. I said I had no reservation but the 3 of us were really hungry and desperate and she said she'd see what she could do. In approx 15mins the table was ready. Although the place was absolutely full, the food was seeved very quickly (to our delight!) The pizzas were yum and with ample amount of ingreduents. The slight let down was the roasted butternut squash (or pumpkin?) salad as it was mainly leaves and just a tiny amount of cheese, squash/pumpkin and walnuts on top. It wasn't seasoned much and definitely lacked the right amount of dressing. However, when we asked for more dressing it was bought to our table, no questions asked. I wouldn’t say it was good value for money, so I'd be sticking to pizzas. What I do want to point out are the waiting staff and the female manager! They were all moving efficiently, they were very attentive (but not intrusive which I hate) and although it was already late afternoon/early eve, they were all very positive and smiling and welcoming and it looked as they all enjoyed their job. That's the kind of service most places lack these days, so well done Team Franco Manca Birmingham! Keep up the...
Read moreINCREDIBLY SLOW SERVICE LEFT CUSTOMERS WAITING EVEN WHEN THERE ARE MANY FREE TABLES AND CUSTOMERS WAITING TO BE SERVED
Just finished watching the commonwealth games and decided to try something new and I thought that the pizza here was at reasonable price. However there was a small queue which is no big deal but there was a VERY long wait and probably due to being understaffed. Many young workers and there was no one serving customers as the customers were standing there complaining. About 30-40 minutes just standing there watching the staff as there are MANY tables free but no customers being served. It’s like the customers waiting were invisible. Severe management issues.
Even when we sat down, it took at least 15-20 mins for one of staff to take our orders; it was like you have to get there attention or you’d just sit there all day with no food. Bit of self-service it feels like.
The food came rather quickly and although it is advertised as sourdough it did seem a bit hard and chewy and the pizza in the middle im pretty sure wasn’t cooked.
Very disappointed as i did think it would he a decent price for a pizza but it is far from up to standard. The service was a huge let down, very disappointed. Also, I think it was £3.20 for a can of coke, quite expensive!
Presentation may look good but don’t be deceived it’s not as nice...
