Popped into Greggs on a Sunday afternoon just after 16:05 (the store itself closes on a Sunday at 17:00). Walked up to the counter and ordered 2 x Chicken Bakes. The cashier asked us if we wanted to eat in or take out. As I wanted us to eat in, I said to eat in. (It's giving us options, which is good!) The cashier replied "We charge more to eat in, is that okay?". I replied "That's fine thank you". Payment was taken, and then we went to sit on tables on other side of the room that were not being cleaned. On the other side (tables and chairs had been stacked). Within a minute of purching my bottom on the chair - the staff member cleaning pretty much came over straight away to the table next to us to move it and clean right by us. In doing so, she decided to bump the table knocking into ours, and then when I looked at her she said "Sorry but we are trying to clean and close the store soon".
I completely understand that staff were trying to clean the store. I get that. But when there is 50 minutes to go until the store is due to close is it necessary for staff to come straight up to us with their rude manner and begin cleaning around us and be everything but customer focused about it. Like, sorry but why I am eating ... why should I as a customer have to empathise with you about 'cleaning' and 'closing' a store in 50 minutes when your other colleague gave us the option and asked us on entry if we wanted to eat in or take out (who then knew from me saying yes to paying extra to Eat In) could have gone and said to other members of staff that "These two are just eating and should only be less than 5 minutes with just 2 chicken bakes".
In the end, we just ate our chicken bakes really quickly.
I am in no way being 'petty' as I am giving feedback in a constructive way to help staff improve customer service and communicated. Instead, the unpleasant feeling from the face of the staff member cleaning looked very apparent, and reflected on the experience of eating in at this store. The overall experience very unwelcoming. Will not be returning, and would STRONGLY recommend that if you approach this store anytime after 15:30 that you take food out and...
Read moreWasn't too happy here. I asked for a cheese and onion pasty and a chicken and bacon baguette. The pasty was given promptly and the and the baguette I picked myself. Then I remembered I needed a bottle of water. The lady took my money and instead of giving my change she began to serve my friend. He asked for a cookie and he was given a doughnut. He told her that's not what he asked for and as she used tings to pick up his cookie her elbow hit some cookies and dropped them to the floor. She took his money and he asked her about the coffee he ordered as she totally forgot about it. Then she looked back at me and I asked for my change (40p) and I said if you want it keep it no worries. She did give it back though. We left only to find my pasty was like warm. I was upset but I expected more or at least my pasty...
Read moreI never thought I’d find myself writing a review about Greggs, but here I am 🤷. I was taken aback by the unbothered attitude of a female staff member during my visit. When my friend asked about the deal in their purchase, they were unnecessarily cold and unbothered.
To add to this, she threw the sweet treat on the counter with such dismissiveness that, although it may not have been intentional, it contributed to the overall unpleasant experience.
This stood in stark contrast to the usual service provided by the two male staff members, who are always friendly and helpful.
I hope this feedback encourages better training for all staff, particularly around product knowledge and customer interaction. A little friendliness goes...
