We recently visited Hyderabad Wala in Birmingham as a group of 10 people, and it was a truly fantastic experience from start to finish!

From the moment we arrived, the staff was friendly, professional, and attentive. They made sure our large group was comfortably seated and guided us through the menu with great suggestions.

We started with a variety of starters like Gobi 65, Chilli Paneer, and Chicken Lollipops — all packed with authentic flavors and perfectly spiced. The Hyderabadi Marag was also a standout — a warm, rich soup that set the tone for the rest of the meal.

For the main course, we ordered a selection of Hyderabadi biryanis, and every single one was delicious. Some of the biryanis we enjoyed included:

Chicken Dum Biryani

Lamb Dum Biryani

Keema Biryani

Prawn Biryani

Fish Biryani

Nalli (Lamb Shank) Biryani

Each biryani was fragrant, flavorful, and served hot, with generous portions and side dishes like raita and spicy salan. The Lamb Dum Biryani and Keema Biryani were especially memorable — rich, aromatic, and perfectly cooked.

The restaurant’s ambiance was comfortable, and despite the size of our group, service was smooth and timely. The team handled everything professionally, and we truly appreciated the attention to detail.

Overall, Hyderabad Wala is a must-visit for anyone who loves authentic Hyderabadi cuisine. Whether you're dining with family, friends, or in a big group, you'll be well taken care of.

Highly recommended — we'll definitely be...

I visited Hyderabad Wala Restaurant today, and as a proud Hyderabadi, it saddens me to write this review.

I parked my car behind the restaurant and entered to confirm with the staff if parking there was okay. They assured me it was fine. I then ordered food and after a short wait, my food was served. While I was in the middle of enjoying my meal, a man approached me and asked if the car parked in the backyard was mine. I replied yes, and he informed me that he needed me to move my car so he could move his.

I explained that I believed I had left enough space for another car to pass, but he insisted that he couldn't. He urged me to come quickly and I requested a moment to wash my hands, Reluctantly, I stopped eating, washed my hands, and moved my car.

When i returned ,I lost the desire to continue my meal. I requested the staff for a box to pack the remaining food because i didn't want to waste it. I also thought of ordering some takeaway dishes, and at the end of the meal I was looking forward to trying their tea, which I had heard was excellent. Unfortunately, I couldn’t enjoy it because of how upset I was by the whole situation.

To my surprise, i came to know that the man who interrupted my meal was the restaurant owner. This behavior from the owner himself was highly unprofessional and disappointing. It marred what could have been an enjoyable experience. I hope the management, especially the owner, ensures better treatment of customers...

This used to be one of the best Indian restaurants in Birmingham. When I first visited, I was genuinely happy to find a place that felt like home who used to serve fresh, authentic food. Sadly, the standards have dropped significantly over time.

On my recent visits, I was served food that was clearly spoiled. The chicken curry had a strong rotten smell, and the biryani was obviously not freshly prepared. Despite my concerns, the staff (don’t know the name of that guy) insisted it had been cooked earlier and might not heated?? which was simply not true. It felt like they expect customers to believe anything they say, assuming we can’t tell the difference between freshly made and reheated leftover food from previous day or long back.

What’s more concerning is that I personally fell sick and experienced food poisoning after one of those meals, which is completely unacceptable. I’ve also heard similar complaints from friends in my network who visited recently and faced the same issues with the chicken items they have ordered.

I’m not trying to spread negativity, but I believe in giving honest feedback. This is a genuine message for anyone assuming they’re always serving fresh food; it’s not always the case. I gave this place multiple chances, but the repeated poor service and food quality have left me extremely disappointed. I’m not visiting this...

Ordered food via Uber eats, it took close to 2 hours for the food to be delivered. This was after multiple calls to a non working telephone number on uber eats. I finally had to google the restaurant and find a different number which finally worked. The lady at the other end was helpful and did ask us to contact her in case we hadn’t received the food in the next 15 mins (to keep in mind it had already been an hour and 45 at that point). The ordeal didn’t end there unfortunately we got a rude delivery driver who literally handed us the food without a bag, when we asked him he just said it had ripped (fair enough we understand stuff happens) but then he proceeds to take out the ripped bag and just throw it on the ground in front of our place. The food was extremely cold and soggy and some of it was just inedible so you know they either forgot our order and it has been sitting there a while or we were just last people the food was delivered to. It was an extremely unpleasant experience and since the restaurant delivers their own food Uber eats has not been able to help either. We ordered a Biryani (semi decent once we heated it up), samosa chat (extremely bad and tasted old, it had to go straight into the bin), pani puri (puris were completely crushed so kinda pointless) and naan (was fine, can’t really mess up a naan though).

Licked Clean My Plate - Just wanted to share my thoughts on a few dishes I’ve tried so far at Hyderabad Wala — figured it’s finally time to write a little something. Chicken Dum Biryani – hands down 10/10. If you like your food spicy (like I do — the spicier the better), this place hits the spot. You can actually talk to the restaurant about the spice level, which is great. The rice was super fragrant and packed with flavor. I usually only have biryani every few months, but in the last 3 weeks alone, I’ve already had it three times here. That says something! Tried the Chicken Liver with Tandoori Naan today — wow. It was amazing and honestly made me a bit homesick. Haven’t had liver since I was back home, and this took me right back. So good. Then we had the Masala Chai — it comes in a smaller cup than I’d usually go for, but considering the price, it makes sense. Plus, it was really good! Totally recommend it after your meal. The vibe at the place is great, and the service has been one of the best I’ve experienced in Birmingham so far. It gets pretty busy in the evenings, but it’s super chill during the day — perfect if you’re looking to grab lunch and maybe get some work done (I usually catch up on emails there). Probably my longest review yet, but definitely worth writing. I’ll keep updating as I try more dishes!

We came as a walk in, a table of 6 to try some dishes and the biryani. The restaurant had a pretty chill vibe, and easily got a table - not too busy but still some people around. We were immediately served by Azmath and Chris, got some menus and quick recommendations. Chicken 555, Chicken Majestic and Tangdi (drumstick) Kebab as our starters were the perfect combination of spice, tanginess and taste - there is a heavy influence or coriander, mint and lemon, but with a perfect balance. We quickly moved to mains with some butter naan along with Mirch Masala Murgh, and then the main scene - the Chicken Dum Biryani and Nalli (lamb shank, whole) Biryani. I was a bit disappointed with the biryani rice, but I have tried way too many and this wouldn't be up to my standard, personal opinion. But the meat was perfectly spiced and cooked, tender and juicy meat blended perfectly with spices for the perfect taste. We closed it with different lassi's as our sweet desserts, and there is some complimentary sweet mouth freshners as well. I would highly recommend to anyone who is looking for a family dinner or a friends gathering. Really good service and a highly recommended food. Must try, will return!
