I had high hopes for this place, but in my opinion, it was extremely average, dare I say a little below average to be honest and I’ve been to much better restaurants. My family and I had the sushi buffet. This was my first time coming here and it will be my last as well unfortunately. But I’d love to express my honest opinions about this place!
The positives were that the staff were fairly friendly, doing their job as they should. And although I didn’t have the teppanyaki, the people who did have it seemed to be enjoying it and the atmosphere and the performance from the chefs over that side of the restaurant seemed nice. However, I can’t say much about the teppanyaki since I didn’t have it.
On the other hand, there are many areas where this restaurant could improve in my opinion. First of all, the food quality is nowhere near as good as it could be. It’s very average and feels a little lacklustre, as said by not just myself but my family as well. We were served a sushi platter, some prawn tempura and noodles. The best thing out of the things we ate at the restaurant was the actual sushi. It was at a better standard than the rest of the food in my opinion. The prawn tempura was okay, nothing special, but the noodles were not what I expected. Perhaps I am in the wrong for expecting something else but we got Chinese style stir-fry noodles. I work in a Chinese takeaway so I’m aware what Chinese stir-fry noodles are like. So it was honestly very average tasting. We decided to leave after trying the noodles because we really weren’t feeling it. Another thing I’d like to say is that the sushi conveyor belts weren’t used which was a little disappointing but not a big deal for me. However, I did read some other reviews that say that they never turn the sushi conveyor belts on, which is a shame.
Overall, it was a very average experience and I wouldn’t come again, mainly because the quality of food that I experienced just isn’t up to my standard. Every restaurant has areas of strengths and areas of improvement. So I just wanted to express my honest review of my experience as unbiased as possible. Thank you to the friendly staff who...
Read moreMy husband and I ate here for lunch via a groupon so from the get go it was cheaper. That being said, I have been to over 10 different teppanyaki restaurants around america and Canada. This place stand up to them.
Pros- the food was delish! I especially loved the salad and the veggie spring roll (which normally I do not like at all). I don't know how he cooked the veggie spring roll but it was bar none the BEST I have ever had. Main meal consisted of prawn and salmon and chicken with fried rise and sprout. Again lovely! The prawns and salmon were seasoned perfectly and the chicken was just right. With our meal my husband went green tea whilst I had a plum wine which was definitely top shelf! Reminded me of the plum wine I used to have from Tokyo. Had to buy me a bottle!
Cons- okay I could tell (tho not my husband since it was his first time) that the chef was a bit new. His knife skills needs a little work and he needs more confidence and a tad more showmanship. No tossing the spatulas or pepper pots which I missed. I think tho in time he will get better when he has more experience and feels confident in doing this. He has potential. As for the food my old negative and this is stretching is that the chicken skewer appetiser I could have gone without. It was okay but I would have enjoyed two of the spring rolls instead.
Over all a lovely experience. The wait staff and chef were lovely. My husband and I really enjoyed ourselves and when they told me about their sushi bar... well.... I am DEFINITELY coming back! I can't wait to go back and try the sushi!!! Om nom nom!
Update: 1st may we came back for the sushi! Oh yeah! 12.95 all you can eat. The rolls were delish. The flavour combinations were spot on. I enjoyed it immensely! Only one negative the wasabi was a bit dry. Needed more water for a bigger kick but then I'm American and prefer my wasabi to be powerful. My husband being a brummie can't handle the wasabi heat so I figure that's why it was so dry. Otherwise we had a great evening and look forward to many many...
Read moreWe dined as a group on a Friday evening in Feb 25 (delayed review to allow the management team a opportunity to respond and make the situation right however they have just ignored my requests)
To begin, as experienced by many others, the restaurant was near empty - 1st warning sign.
The main issue - for religious beliefs, none of the group eat beef. We placed our order and we were never asked about our food restrictions and to our horror, without warning and unknown to us at the time, the chef added raw beef to the same hotplate he was cooking our food for a take away order. (why they were cooking other people's food despite there being multiple other hotplates available I don't know)
The beef had contaminated our food as the juices etc had mixed with our food and we were served and ate the food without knowing. The beef was only identified later and we were shocked and horrified and raised an immediate complaint. (At no point were we asked if it was acceptable to cook raw beef on the same hotplate)
Billie (staff member) was completely dismissive of the complaint and very rude,, not appreciating the seriousness of their actions and became aggressive in nature when we raised our concerns. The chef in question admitted complete liability yet offered no apology which again is completely unacceptable.
Considering the poor service, the dismissive nature of the staff to what is a sensitive issue I would think twice about dining here.
Felma Resuello has been particular dismissive and stated in writing we are making a 'big fuss' which shows a complete lack of appreciate to the seriousness and complete ignorance to the issue and despite numerous requests to speak to the owner (Ferdinand Reyes) to discuss, this has not been forthcoming.
Poor establishment -...
