CBSO Centre — Local services in Birmingham

I almost regret not being there but glad for the close ups & intimacy of watching a totally staggering & absorbing proms concert last night on TV. The Howell I really loved, a person I did not know & the Knussen was an absolute dream. The Elgar has always & always will be a serious favorite & The Sheku Kanneh-Mason took me to another level, other names, always mentioned were irrelevant, this was Sheku's Elgar & thank goodness I've recorded it. Lastly, is it really true or did I miss hear that this was the first time Weinberg has been at the proms. I have some cds but no symphonies & was really taken by it, the performance was breath taking, I did not want the slow movement to end. What a precious gift you have with your conductor. Can't wait for more, thank you so so much...

Visited for British and Eastern music. A very enjoyable time. Music was traditional from Hungarian region and other eastern countries. Some of the instruments were traditional too. The music was delightful and, in some cases, had people tapping their feet. One of the group playing gave a little display of traditional dancing along with the music. Staff and musicians go out of their way to help and are really making music accessible through their community initiatives, breaking down the barriers between an orchestra and young audiences.....quite literally walking amongst them as they perform!!
