Evening meal offer is great, a steak and peroni. Food was fantastic, really nice, hot and served quickly. Honestly loved every bite! Spent a total of £17.40 for this with 2 pints of Peroni so spot on with the price happy to spend. 4* is only that for one reason... following a busy day at a trade conference, I was on my own.... saw the offer outside on the board and came in, wandered around feeling bit lost looking for somewhere to sit and how it all works here. Not been to a S&L in a very long time. Just found a space and sat in, and found someone to goto to ask about the £10 meal and drink deal. Found the app by scanning a qr code on table, and worked it out eventually. But was quite lot of effort when could have done with a bit of assistance to be honest. Don't normally need it - but this is a totally new place to me. BTW.... the steak was really so tasty!

Well I've never been so disappointed in my life and I've frequented many restaurants in my time. We booked a table in advanced seeing as we were travelling down from South Yorkshire to see a show and would be in need of dinner beforehand. On entering we stood in the doorway waiting to be greeted and shown our table but, although it was quiet and there were plenty of staff behind the bar near the kitchen, no one seemed to bother. We asked a young woman cleaning tables who went to tell someone and then after a minute or two, I found out later it was the manager appeared and showed us to a table which we didn't quite like so we moved. I always thought the S&L was a bit more up market than Weatherspoons but it appears to operate in a similar way apart from being able to book a table?? (You either order food and drink at the bar or use an app), so I ordered at the bar and the irony is you are asked for gratuity on payment - this before eating AND having to pour your own drinks from the bottle into your glass! Well we sat down and waited for our meals. On arrival, my wife noticed omissions from her dish as per the menu description, but seeing as it was like "window dressing" garnish, she rejected the offer for it to be corrected. My meal on the other hand, was disgraceful. I wouldn't have taken it to a customer if I was the manager looking at it (see photo). The description said "a succulent chicken breast..smoothered in...". It was far from it! My first attention was brought to the blackened end to the chicken breast then to the rest of the exposed breast (which wasn't "smoothered"), which was golden brown and dry looking. I cut into it, and the thing was soo dry drinking a liver dry wouldn't have helped to swallow it!. I jestered to staff accumulated around the kitchen/bar area and attention was brought to the manager who then selected a young staff member to come over a deal with us. Because of time constraints I decided to change my order for a bacon, cheese beef burger, making sure attention was brought to my customisation of no ketchup etc on it. When it was presented onto the hotplate for service (I could see plainly from where I sat), the manager, who could have fetched it, called over the young member of staff to deliver it to me. When it arrived I asked him to wait while I checked it. The burger had ketchup applied to the bun, there was burger sauce on it too which I had also said no to and, to top it off, the bacon, cheese and beef burger was replaced by a Southern fried chicken?? This was the last straw. The lad apologised (but it should have been the manager), I was offered a refund for which I was granted, but only for my dish. The omissions on my wife's dish were disregarded. The "excuse" given was "they are doing some sort of checks in the kitchen" ??? So, the experience was shocking, and my wife and I will never be recommending or setting foot in a Slug & Lettuce ever again. P.S. I'm not sure what their policy is on vaping in their restaurant, but I couldn't help noticing a young couple sat drinking cocktails drawing on vaps during their brief stay.

We visited on Monday evening and overall it wasn’t great. My friend had booked so I waited at the entrance to be seated. I was ignored for a good while with several staff blanking me. The guy who did greet me and sit me down was lovely though; super polite and friendly. There was a problem with the table (our fault) but they were quick the rectify this for us and give us a bigger spot. Once it got to ordering it when downhill. Our food arrived well before most of the drinks did. We waited at least half an hour for our first drinks. Food was incredibly disappointing, even for a chain like this. Chips were super greasy, my rare steak was medium (nearly well at the ends), my onions rings were forgotten and I paid £2 extra for the most pathetic extra of calamari I’ve ever seen. To top of off, when I tried to get the attention of a guy who seemed senior to ask for a steak knife (2 of us had steak and neither was given a knife) I saw him dramatically pause his walk and roll his eyes. If we weren’t celebrating my friend I’d have complained there and then. The plates and glasses piled up, but no one was clearing the table. Eventually we cleared it ourselves by moving the plates and empties to another dirty table. 2-4-1 drinks makes this place appealing, but expect subpar food and service.

A DISGUSTING experience at the Slug and Lettuce at Brindley Place in Birmingham. Absolutely rubbish service: we received yesterday around 5pm. Drinks did not arrive, waiter forgot to bring part or order and did not arrive despite reminded. Food was cold. We were if every thing was alright when meals almost finished. My partner told the above experience but the guy had no clue how to handle the feedback and told his manager. No one bothered. We made full payment. Requested to speak to the manager who avoided to speak to speak to us. He gave my partner a rude hand gesture to wait at main entrance . We waited at the entrance and he arrived after two waitresses approached us and called him. No apology expressed. Facial expressions were blank and absolutely rude man as if not bothered.

Went to the slug and lettuce Birmingham as a group of 10, including children, to celebrate a birthday. We had the endless lunch/picky bits menu. We found it to be exceptional value, 2 drinks, order as main food plates as you can manage and desserts-we had a throughly fantastic afternoon. The venue was immaculately presented, the food was delicious, cocktails magical and the service outstanding. We were served by Jess who went over and beyond, nothing was too much trouble. She was super attentive and very accommodating. A special mention to the manager, whose name I didn’t get, who was equally as fabulous and joined my 2 year old on the floor to complete a sticker book. Highly recommended.

Came here on Friday for a meal and a drink before a concert with 2 friends. Service very slow at the bar due to the amount of people ordering cocktails!! It took ages to get a drink! Bar staff had no idea who was next to be served. Ordered food at the table on the app. Food was nice. We had: Scampi and sweet potato fries Festive burger Fajita chicken pasta Very loud music at 5.45pm so couldn't have a conversation. I'm fine with loud music later on but a bit much so early. I wouldn't come here again for a pre concert meal but I do like it for drinks and a dance later in the evening.
