This evening was my first visit to Syriana and I’m glad that I finally visited with my wife and children. We’d already had our fill of middle-eastern cuisine this morning, when we ventured to ‘Damascena’ on Moseley Road. However, this evening my family wanted more of the same, so we decided to visit somewhere new. I made a reservation half an hour before we arrived at the restaurant.
We parked at the back of the restaurant and with it being a Sunday evening, the restaurant was fairly quiet. We were given the choice of where to sit and we were quickly chaperoned to our seats. Immediately we had observed how impressively designed and beautifully decorated the restaurant was with lovely adornments and carvings. The restaurant was also well lit, perfectly ventilated and spacious. The clean image and modernity certainly was evident and demonstrates that a refurbishment had recently taken place.
Abdallah who was the main waiter assigned to us, spent some considerable time providing us with suggestions and patiently taking our order. He was friendly, courteous and approachable all evening.
We skipped a ‘Starter’ and proceeded straight to the ‘Main’. We ordered 4 separate meals including Mixed Grill. Soup. Lamb Kebabs, Specialist 1/2 sized Chicken and Sea Bass, with lots of ‘Fattoush’ (Lebanese Salad) and ‘Meze dishes’ (‘Houmous’, ‘Falafel’ and ‘Baba Ganoush’) among others.
The portions were on the generous size and ensured we were all full when we left the restaurant. All food was cooked so exceptionally well with all of us sharing our food, coming to the conclusion that the food was better than we expected.
We then decided to take desserts in the form of ‘Mango Ice Cream’ and ‘Baklava’. We also ordered a pot of ‘Mint Tea’ and milk shakes for the children. The ‘Baklava’ with whipped cream, is among the best I have ever eaten, and the ‘Ice Cream’ was of excellent quality too. Once again all 4 of us shared our desserts among each other.
The food was delicious and we thoroughly enjoyed it in a relaxed. calm and ambient environment. Abdallah was a great host and looked after our each and every need and our first experience at the rest was a triumphant one. We’ll definitely return back in the future and would endorse this restaurant to anyone who appreciates...

Read moreDisappointing 😭 i used to LOVE Syriana even my family and friends knew that whenever i needed my spirits lifted they'd take me to syriana restaurant cause they knew how much i loved it, their falafel was out of this world incredible, their mahashi stuffed veggies and vine leafs delicious 😋, every single dish was delicious and made by someone very gifted and talented in the kitchen.... But something went really really wrong within the past 3-4 years every year the restaurant is becoming worst, I've been trying each year to carry on with my syriana tradition, i would order from deliveroo or UberEATS and every time i would receive my food one thing was always wrong Despite my constant disappointment with the restaurant i order again two nights ago and what i received after paying 25 pounds for it was a nightmare! The falafels where so blunt, the flavour is gone, the mahashi stuffed veggies where soooo plain they arrived in a aluminum container literally had six seven pieces swimming around this watery juice thing in the container, no salad as usual, poor portion no presentation and it just looked very unappetizing, and to be honest the flavour wasn't all there either, i had also ordered the lentil rice it used to be one of my favorite side dish and what i got was this very old dried rice so dried that you could tell that it was cooked probably a week ago and it was heavily microwaved before being sent to me To the owner of syriana, i am not writing this review to pull you down or anything like that, i loved syriana and i just want my favorite restaurant to go back to it's formal glory, bring the chef back that was creating all this beautiful dishes, revive the place again, bring back your...
