I was surprised how poor this pub was considering it is situated in the heart of Sutton Coldfield town centre, I ordered from the festive menu, I ordered the turkey with stuffing, mash potato, carrots parsnips and peas in gravy with cranberry sauce and 2 pigs in blankets. My advice is not to order this meal, the vegetables were poor and tasted like they came from a tin, the turkey almost certainly came from a tin (turkey roll slices in gravy), the pigs in blankets were over baked, the mash had a hard topping from being reheated and devoid of moisture, its actually the worst pub meal I have ever had and I actually feel like I have been robbed. I ordered a cup of tea and was given a little wooden stick instead of a spoon which did not do a great job, every other pub I have had tea in gives you a spoon. The waitress was quite surly and unhelpful and lots of the tables were covered in old plates and glasses, customers were having to clear plates away themselves. I had to use the toilet before I left and unfortunately the cubicle smelled strongly of vomit and the toilet seat was dirty despite having some blue toilet cleaner in the bowl. I was very disappointed as I had expected better from a large chain. Its the first time I have eaten in a Wetherspoons and will probably...
Read moreVisited on a Steak night, ordered for the first time on the Wetherspoons app. What an experience that was. Saved the order to my basket and logged back in 10 minutes later to complete & order, the app had wiped all the order off. Four attempts later the order was confirmed?
Ordered the 12oz rump very well done. The outside looked VWD, the inside middle was red with blood coming out, not good. The steak was tuff, which is the downside of VWD., the skin on the jacket potato was rock solid, and the peas were raw but warm.
On the positive side, by the time I had received my email confirmation of order, my San Miguel had been delivered to my table, good service.
But let's face facts, I have paid £10.30 for 12oz steak with jacket potato, peas, mushroom, tomato, coleslaw and a pint of San Miguel.
Usual Wetherspoons meal, quantity with very little quality at reasonably low cost.
If I was working out of town and starving, would I try it again? Yes.
At £10.30 Inc beer, what can you expect?
Price/Value- 2/5. Location- 4/5. Service- 4/5. Food quality- 1/5. Rapport- 4/5.
I would try it again if I was starving,...
Read moreI don't like giving negative reviews based on the performance of one staff member, but in this case it's justified as she was truly horrible. The beer was fine, as is always the way in a Wetherspoons. All but one of the staff was too. However, when one of our group asked if they could use the toilet before leaving, they were told "no, you've had enough time already". When we arrived in The Bottle Of Sack, the same staff member (female, blue top, black horn rimmed glasses) served us. There was a label at the side of the pump clip, the badge on the beer pump. I asked if it said that the beer was "Coming Soon", as that is often the reason for such a label and I couldn't read it as I didn't have my glasses. In this case, it wasn't. The staff response was "Does it say it's not available?" When challenged about her approach to customer service as we were leaving, she laughed and said "There are plenty of other pubs in Sutton, if you don't like it you can go there". She not only thought this was acceptable, but funny too. Until this is addressed, I, and, my friends, will take her advice and...
