We visited today for lunch as it was my girlfriend's birthday and Jarern used to be her favourite place. We found that the business has changed and there's a new Thai restaurant with a new menu. We decided to stay and ordered Veggie Pad Thai and Veg Red curry, crispy chicken and egg fried rice for me. The Pad Thai and the crispy chicken dish were ok and we ordered other dishes for take away for our kids as dinner. We both had an upset stomach after the meal and later in the day as we went to open the food, we discovered that the leftovers red curry was off with a very strong smell and taste of gone off food, which wasn't obvious when the food was warm and served in the restaurant. My girlfriend decided to go take the remains of the food to show the new owners that something was off as she wanted a refund and an apology for ruining her birthday. The owners refused to offer a refund but offered to cook a fresh dish, saying it is her fault for asking to put the rice together with the curry in the same container. Something I've never heard of in my 25 years in hospitality that the mixing coconut and rice makes the rice spoil? And if that is the case why would you offer to put them in the same container knowing it will spoil? Quite rude to blame her for bad food which is allegedly cooked fresh only a few hours ago! We've never had this experience anywhere and for a new establishment to treat customers this way is pretty disgusting. We won't be returning to this place. She was left disappointed...
Read moreWouldn't recommend ordering delivery. Ordered on a Saturday evening, and although the service was extremely quick which I do appreciate, the quality and quantity of the food was poor, especially for the price!! £40 for half a container of curry (every order I've ever made at any restaurant FILL the container) the curry was so thin that it disappeared when poured over the rice.. my partner couldn't taste it then. pad Thai was extremely bland and at £2 extra for prawns id expect more than 3. The ribs were so dry they were inedible, I physically couldn't chew the meat. I'm a big Thai food lover after visiting Thailand while pregnant on my honeymoon, I ate pad Thai every single day, but what I received today was no where near authentic pad Thai and has left me disappointed. The food was also not hot, which, considering how fast it was delivered truly leads me to believe this was premade and had been sitting on a side luke warm as opposed to being made fresh. I was prepared to treat myself to weekly pad Thais regardless of the price had it been decent food, but this restaurant unfortunately won't be the one...
