Dined recently as a ‘large’ party. Unfortunately had to select from large party menu several days ahead. Surely the kitchen should be able to offer the full menu with so much notice? Private dining room seemed pleasant in the late afternoon sun, however lighting was inadequate by the time food was served. Maybe this is a ploy. So you’d think a competent waitress would ask if everything was ok especially when seeing starters left as they were incinerated. It became all too apparent they had no interest in whether you were actually enjoying the food. Slightly awkward moment when the waitress challenged one of the party for ID, generally I’ve no problem with the challenge 25 policy, however she’s already been stood at the bar discussing the lack of options with her family members and another team member who’d served her alcohol. We duly went back to the car for requested ID. It took a further 20 mins for the drinks to arrive. A large number of the party ordered steak, not one cooked as per order, it’s just not acceptable with a £9 supplement. The burger option was lacking flavour and was dry. Again no interest from the waitress in whether the food was ok. The wait for desserts was painful, so much so most of the group missed their train, we had to request it in the end. I’m not sure if they’d run out of the Lytham House Snickers, but what was served resembled a slice of something from Farmfoods with a sprinkle of edible soil on the side for effect. The arancini was pleasant but not outstanding, the halloumi tasty but probably too large a portion. The hummus and bread were disproportionate, the tandoori monkfish was good, the accompaniments uninspired. Our party may be from out of town and not part of the Lytham set but we eat there often enough to know it’s not in the same league as the surrounding restaurants at similar price points and cheaper. It’s certainly trading on its Insta worthy interior of the main dining rooms. We didn’t complain as they were clearly not interested and didn’t want to cause offence to the birthday boy who was hosting the dinner.
My advice to others, there’s better places to part with your cash within 50 steps...
Read moreAs a couple we go to lytham house most weeks as we eat out quite often and we enjoy all the little offers and discounts, we were served today by the manager, which was a young lady, we ordered 2 glasses of 1.75ml red wine, as we knew the wine was on offer £3.00 a small glass or £6.00 a large glass which is a 2.50ml glass, when checking bill we had been charged £13.90 for our 2 wines, which is more than the £6.00 offer for the large glasses, me personally would have advised the customer of the best option to buy if we had offers on, I think it would be good customer service, but we was not advised, I ordered a coffee which states on the board £2.00, it does not tell you where you can sit for a coffee for £2.00, we were sat in the restaurant, I checked my bill and we were charged £4.00, when I questioned this, I was told it was only £2.00 if we were sat on the other side, customer service today was very bad, we have been going to lytham house for a long time, and never ever had a problem with the bill, on this occasion I am sorry to say, the customer service by the young lady was very very poor, I do not feel she had any customer care or the right attitude, I myself am a hotel owner, and I would go out of my way to care for every customer with any advise and help that is needed, and I would most certainly advise a customer of the best deals and offers we have on, I would want all my customers and guest to return, I would still go back to lytham house as this has never happened before, and all the other staff that have served me have all been very very helpful and always treated us both with the best care, it is just today that the service was...
Read moreI came here with a group of 8 for a birthday celebration. It is a beautiful restaurant, with lovely decor, very clean and nice live music on Friday night. However, the service was terrible. It took ages for our orders to be taken and nearly an hour for the food to arrive after that! We sat at our table and were ready to order at 7:30 and weren't eating till past 9 pm. The waitress was not blatantly rude, but she did not provide good or pleasant customer service. We all found her sharp and impatient, which was ironic since we were the ones having to wait. I had asked for some ice to go with my wine, but after requesting several times for it, I realised it was a futile effort. The food was very substandard for the price. The creamy mushrooms tasted like pure oil, and there were only three tiny mushrooms in it, and it came with nothing else, so this was not worth the £10 it cost. One of my friends had the risotto, and the rice was still hard, and the food was again covered in oil. She barely ate any of it, and she isn't usually a fussy eater. Several on our table had the kievs, and when cut into the chicken, there was literally no 'garlic oil' filling. (this was probably because the oil was used up on the other plates). Usually, I would have requested that all the aforementioned meals be returned, but after already waiting for ages for these plates to arrive, we all were disappointed and ready to leave. This restaurant is way too overpriced for the quality of food and customer service. There are much better...
