Had the absolute misfortune of paying for what can only be described as a masterclass in disappointment.
It’s a Turkish restaurant in the same way instant coffee is a “barista experience” — technically true, but deeply upsetting. They proudly served supermarket brown pitta bread, still in its “just took it out of the pack” glory, lovingly presented in a basket that looked like it hadn’t been washed since the Ottoman Empire.
We were shown to a table without menus — apparently guessing the food is part of the charm. The waiter asked what I wanted before I’d even seen a menu, as if I might telepathically divine their offerings. No cutlery until requested. No drinks offered. I assume hydration is BYO.
The “chef” wore one solitary black glove, presumably for style, because he used his ungloved hand to garnish and dress plates like a contestant in a food safety horror show.
The dishes were… fine. If “fine” means below average, bland, and surrounded by an atmosphere that screams we gave up years ago. The prices, however, were as high as the standards should have been.
In conclusion: if you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to pay premium prices for the privilege of being ignored while eating supermarket bread in a grubby room — your...
Read moreThis is one of those restaurants where when you look at the decor when entering be negative. Please don't do that, or stop you eating there. Food is beautifully fresh and rustic. Before ordering food a bowl of a mixed salad with pomegranate dressing, fresh baked bread and homemade dips were served by the chef prepared while we were there. It was delicious and refreshing no need for a starter after that, we were a table of four. Bigger appetites probably can fit in a starter which was hot and cold meze. It is one of those places found down an alley undiscovered because everyone wants to eat on the high street from a restaurant well known. Do you do that on holiday? I say no we explore different restaurants and find a favourite one and go back. The atmosphere is quiet but I always think you create your own chatting. Take a chance, try it once and make your...
Read moreWhat a fantastic little place this is. We went here for my birthday and enjoyed some delicious food. The entrance is to the side but don't let put you off. Inside was spotlessly clean and the menu had us salivating.
While enjoying a nice cool Efer beer we tucked into wam Turkish bread and some delicious chilli sauce.
We opted for the mixed hot platter to share as a starter, absolutely delicious loved every single bit, but especially the homemade calamari...oh and special mention for the fantastic salad!
We then had the Mixed Grill Selection to share, which had a little selection of all the grill meats and was also totally delicious.
The meal was finished off with the delicious sweet baklava that was crammed with pistachios and drenched in sweet syrup.
The service was great, everyone was very friendly and nothing was too much trouble.
All in all a fantastic place and definitely worth a...
