Tall guy serving me today was so rude! I came to the till with a yoghurt, a cake, a cheese twist and an apple juice. I said hello, he acknowledged me. I then proceeded (like most people in a coffee shop to place my drinks order or 2 cappuccino’s - not the biggest or most complicated order). Before I could say cappuccino - the Gail’s employee waved his hands at me saying “wow wow wow - let’s just take the drinks orders first”. I don’t know why me having a tray of food and wanting to make a drinks order at the same visit was too much to ask. His dismissive hand gestures and tone were just over the top. Fortunately for Gail’s - I was with my wife and daughter so I didn’t make a scene. Just plain rude in my opinion.
I then went back to the counter to ask a lady for a spoon for my yoghurt and she threw a tea spoon into my tray….
This isn’t the first time I have experienced this rude behaviour at Gail’s Brentwood and my wife tells me she has witnessed many protesting customers in the past.
It’s such a shame because the food is lovely and the coffee is not bad (it’s not fantastic but certainly passable) - and the interior is...

Everything is overpriced, if you eat in you have to pay an extra ~£1/50p per item. You can’t ask for anything to be warmed up - it is a bit disappointing to eat a cold chicken breast burger at this price..
Once we sat down, I realised they gave my partner a dirty mug for her tea so I went to ask for a new one - they gave me another mug that was just as dirty. My partner could remove bits of food inside the mug with her tissue. (See photo)
Then, as I was eating my sandwich I bit into something really hard (I was even worried I damaged my teeth) I couldn’t figure out what it was exactly but that should definitely not have been inside a sandwich.
I wouldn’t recommend going to Gail’s Brentwood, it is overpriced and the service is bad. If you want a lovely place to eat, just...
Read moreWe are so frustrated we would like to request a refund. As a coffee shop owner myself it is rare I leave a review as I understand the detrimental effect it can have on a business, but we feel like we were robbed. I'm not sure how this coffee shop is still in business or maintains custom. We paid twenty two pounds for two drinks and two bagels! If they were of high quality, we would have taken the hit. But the bagels which cost an extortionate £7.50 had barely any ingredients. They put the attractive ones in front then serve you the partially filled ones from the back. My boyfriend's hot chocolate that cost £3.70 was the size of my flat white which I believe was a 6oz, and it was of poor quality and luke warm! And neither drink was filled to the top! I'm not sure how this business justifies...
