In short: excellent!
But if you want to read on... where to start? We’ve lived on North Street for seven years. Without a doubt KASK is the best new addition to North Street - and, we think, to the Bristol wine scene in general - we’ve experienced in that time.
The staff are amazing — knowledgable and friendly -- and they are ready to talk through any of wines on the menu. If you don’t know what you want, or you aren’t sure about the details, they’re always there to talk to you about it. Some of the staff have also been involved in local wine production, so you know you’re always in safe hands (something we learned in a recent wine tasting event).
KASK hosts an amazing selection of wines from across the world. The menu changes every week, but what holds it all together is a focus on small scale producers who are making quality products.
But while the wine is excellent, you have to try the cheese. We love a cheese, but the selection in KASK has consistently blown our minds. Like the wine, the cheese selection changes regularly, but it is always incredible.
We always go back. The menu is ever changing, but the constant is the quality. Be that for the wine, the cheese, or the welcoming vibes, KASK is undoubtably one of the gems of Bristol which is a must visit. For quality wine, KASK puts Bristol on the...
Read moreWine bars often have a rustic, contemporary, or sophisticated feel but instead it felt neglected, in need of face lift. The outside needs a good clean, the decking is old and the stairs are falling apart and are a slip hazard. You could easily fix them with 2 hours work. They need sanding down and some non slip stair treads added. The plants all look half dead and the tables need some candles or lanterns added for atmosphere. You could go online and kit the garden out for less than £100. Staff should carry out the wine and drinks to the table not the customer. The plates look like they come from ikea. Both times I've been here staff have forgotten to bring the cheese and I've had to get up and ask again at the bar. Tables weren't cleared either, there were empty bottles and glasses on the tables. A dress code for the staff wouldn't go amiss and I wouldn't trust the hygiene levels considering the staff were handling cash and touching their faces to then go to the back to prepare the food. You need to take inspiration from your European counterparts where customer service is viewed as an art. Whoever is in charge of this place needs to seriously reassess how it's...
Read moreI was disappointed by my experience at KASK. The wine selection seemed correct but unfortunately, staff couldn't give recommendations or descriptions (I understand the waitress was new but this isno excuse for a wine place to have trained their staff to at least describe the wine list). They were accomodating to let me test the wine so I can make my decision. Once desicion was made, the wine was not served in original bottle but the most worrying part is that the white wine was served with no ice bucket. I understand that this was not the warmest day but 18C in the sun means that by the time we finished the bottle, the wine was getting warm. Lastly, we ordered some cheese and again, I found the cheese selection to be mediocre (there a cheesemonger almost next door). £11 for 4 slices and the crackers served simply hid the tast of the cheese. Also the butter knife made if hard to cut the cheese - for a wine bar I think this can be improved. I would come back and give it another try but some simple improvements could take this place to...
