Very slow service due to front of house being under staffed. I ordered the chicken burger, my partner the warm salad. It arrived after what I considered to be a long time for a fried chicken burger and a salad and I had received the wrong burger and the warm salad was cold. The server was helpful and offered us a drink- an offer that my partner accepted. We then waited a further 20 minutes. We had somewhere local to be at 8 and despite arriving at about 6.30 we almost ran out of time so unfortunately we never got to enjoy our food as we wanted. The Sunday roast was great however the staff made us feel very uncomfortable. We contacted the restaurant in advance to tell them we have to reduce the table size, and when we arrived the waiter gave us a lecture about how he doesn’t think he can accommodate us and we shouldn’t do it next time. After a few mins he realised he had misunderstood the situation and we had informed the restaurant beforehand, but did not offer an apology. Stripped minimal design inside with a cafeteria feel. Very relaxed atmosphere with local artists work displayed throughout. In the evening it becomes quite lively but still manages to feel comfertable and welcoming. Good selection of guest ales, ciders and beers on tap and a larger selection of bottled beers and cocktails on offer.
