I will continue to give one stars to businesses that don't accept cash. First, as a small independent business, you must be doing very well to turn away a paying customer. The implications of a cashless business run far deeper than the initial person centered discrimination though.
If we lose cash then we lose our freedoms and anonymity. What if one day the powers that be decide how and when we must spend our money. After the past few years of restrictions, this is not an absurd prediction. Your card will be accessible as and when they decide. What if you don't want your purchase history to be tracked. What if you want to leave some money for your grandchildren in a Christmas card. What about a bit of tooth fairy money. This aside, it costs small businesses money for card transactions, so why wouldn't you want to save a bit?
Please don't help to facilitate this kind of future for us or our children. A cashless society. All small businesses should be joining forces and demanding cash be kept in circulation. Not the other way round. It will be all of you that will suffer...
Read moreThe trouble with lightly roasted coffee is that it becomes much more difficult to extract an espresso shot that isn't sour. Sadly, mine was and also my partner's. I honestly cannot say what should be done to avoid this, there are so many variables. Grind, tamp, temperature, interval since roasting. The Italians didn't spread espresso around the world by light roasting; there's skill in blending. At least offer a high roast for those of us who don't want to risk the vagaries inherent in brewing espresso from a lightly roasted coffee, however delicate and intricate the flavour is. Thank you for your reply and I have increased my star rating as I don't really like giving bad reviews. I didn't have a pastry/gateau but they looked divine. I like the vibe of your café, especially as I find brewing and drinking espresso such a pleasure, and roasting too. Was I just unlucky? I'll visit again...

The atmosphere in the café was very simply decorated but quiet and relaxed nonetheless. An employee immediately came over while I perused their bagged coffee and helped me take my choice according to my preferred flavour profile. I picked up their La Lacuma and back home I immediately tried it, and I was again wonderfully delighted by the sweet notes that carries through the roast.
The in-house blend was also lovely with a more earthy and sweet note. The service was great as well. Overall a lovely spot to lean back and enjoy a good...
