I am very disappointed with your reply to Catriona's review for a number of reasons:
A week later the same, 'outdated' drinks menu is still displayed on each table.
It is a lie that we had been informed of the price change. The only mention of this was when the bill was questioned.
We did not choose the most expensive wine we chose the mid priced wine and clearly stipulated to the waiter the wine we wanted to order.
When we questioned the cost of the wine when presented with the bill, the waiter could only keep repeating the prices had gone up and that is the amount we had to pay, as everyone who eats here knows that! Unfortunately we didn't and refused to pay the extra amount from the advertised price.
The point Catriona made regarding the extra cost to the fixed price menu, which you haven't understood is that we were very clearly notified about the extra charge to the food which we were more than happy to pay, but no mention that the drinks menu was out of date and the wine was an extra £5 a bottle.
The waiter summond another member of staff who in my opinion was extremely condescending and would not allow me to speak and extended his arm towards me, indicating a stop sign, on a few occasions which I found offensive and rude.
At no point did either if us raise our voices, become aggressive or use foul language, that is not in our nature to ever speak to another human being that way. The comments made below are lies and a slant on our character which I find exceptionally unjust, which is why I have had to send this.
No menu was thrown at any member of staff, the drinks menu was tossed, like a napkin would be, in pure exasperation as the conversation was going nowhere and there was no understanding of the point we were making.
At no point did you try to make the situation right, only when we insisted that we would not be paying the extra you had added to the bill did the staff member back down and agree.
It is very disappointing that the restaurant does not accept or follow trading standards that the price you advertise is the price a customer pays and your lack of understanding regarding this is a big concern.
The food and service was excellent but the way this was handled and your comments made in your reply are disgusting.
Unfortunately we will not be returning as we both found the conversations at the end of the meal upsetting which left...
Read moreVery rude staff, unorganised and make their own rules up. Booked a table to take my fiancee and my 2 girls as I heard good reviews, got the venue and it was very busy. Man at the door who was seating people then told me it was fully booked and had no room, my fiancee then proceeded to tell him we had a booking, shown him the email for him to reply with, 'That's not confirmation that, just means if we have a table then we'll contact you to say you've got it!' Email clearly stated that our table had been confirmed and look forward to seeing us, was then left stood in the cold outside with my 2 girls freezing. I then approached him and asked if he was joking and he replied with, 'NO!' Find somewhere else, I then told him that the email clearly states the table is booked and nothing states that there will be a phone call to confirm anything and that I have my 2 young girls one being 10 and my youngest being 7. Would not recommend booking here and wouldn't give them my time or money either. Absolutely rude and disgusting treating me and my family like this especially on New Year's Eve. I hope this review reaches people who intend on wanting to try this and change their mind after...
Read moreWe dined here Weds 15th June and had the light n early menu. My mushroom rice cost an extra £1 and my friend's fish curry was an extra £3. They were quick to let us know about the extra charges but we were okay with that. There were 2 New Zealand Sauv Blancs on the wine list and we chose the cheaper one which was £20.95. We had two bottles and enjoyed the food. However on the bill we were charged 2 x £25.95 and when we questioned it they became quite aggressive. They said new wine lists were arriving the following day from the printer and each bottle had increased by £5. We argued that we had not been told this and we refused to pay. They were quite angry. Fast forward a week and my daughter is dining there tonight. The original wine list is still there. She doesn't drink wine but I wonder what would have happened. Or were they just trying to overcharge two tipsy middle aged women.
Furthermore we did not use foul language and my friend merely threw the menu down on the table in frustration. I'm sure other diners would have reacted if we had caused a scene. We merely stood up for our rights. This man is not...
