Great pub on the whole. Excellent knowledgeable and helpful young barman.
Very noisy early on, six nations rugby day. Settled down later. Good beer apart from the Copper Plate that tasted like something a Russian spy might be exposed to after defecting to the UK.
Later, I was served the wrong beer by an ill tempered older barman (think Pat Phelan) who looked to me as if he'd had a few himself by this time. He was quite insistent that I had asked for it (I had never even heard of it). He eventually throws the unasked for drink into the sink in a strop and provides the correct drink. Says the price for the round is £20.05 and then gives me all the change in coins. Wrong man in the wrong job.
Overall:

Gave her the money for the drinks, no 'thank you' or any any form of conversation from her whatsoever. She was more concerned on looking on her mobile than in providing customer service. Avoid this place if you want friendly happy...
Read moreIf I owned a pub I'd have it exactly like this. The range of own produced ales are second to none. The head brewer must be a magician. The bar staff are super friendly while being very efficient. I travel around 10 miles to visit this gem of a pub / brewery and do so willingly. The atmosphere is always friendly and the customer base is one is the type not to shun new faces . The music nights simply add to the reason why I genuinely believe this to be THE best pub in England!! There ,...
