We popped in for lunch on Mothers Day, my son had the pancakes which he said were okay and finished, the milkybar freak shake he drank a little but said it just tasted like very sweet milk he couldn’t taste white chocolate. Partner tried to finish it for him and agreed. I ordered the vegan rams breakfast and barely touched it. It came with 2 small hash browns which were fine, sausages are exactly the same as those used in Tesco cafe (not great and very dry), small tub of beans which were fine, and a salad tomato quartered sad and cold with some slight charring on one side, the avocado was smashed like guacamole so it was just mush. I handed the toast back since there was no vegan butter.
I didn’t complain at the time as it was obvious, we asked for the butter, were told there was none so I just handed my toast over. What am I going to do with dry toast? When my meal went back barely touched I thought it would be addressed, every food place I’ve worked at we chased up the full plates but nothing, okay.
If you’re going to serve a vegan breakfast at least have vegan butter available, when you have all the Flora options and now a vegan Lurpak there isn’t any excuse. If you list avocado don’t serve smashed avocado or guacamole. Mushrooms exist. Vegan sausages are better than that, “This Isn’t” are a decent none dry option. Just a sad meal all round for me.
Edit: if leaving 90% of the food and handing back a part of it doesn’t show it needs rectifying at the time then your customer...
Read moreWe found this place on a quick google search for a local coffee shop. Very well presented and friendly, hospitable staff, especially considering how busy they were at lunchtime.
High chairs available and a WC with changing table, wipes and other baby products (very thoughtful).
I ordered a large latte with almond milk and it was delicious! No harsh, bitter or earthy after-taste. We both ordered salt and pepper chicken open pitta and were surprised at the amount of food. It came with alot of salad!
The chicken was good, if not a little dry for my taste. With it being salt and pepper, I would have expected a bit of chilli, not just salt and black pepper, but maybe that's just a Chinese takeaway 'thing'. The pittas were soft, warm and tasted fresh.
I personally felt a little limited with choices due to not eating pork, tuna or cheese, although I'm sure they could alter to desired taste. They do have signs up saying gluten free and vegan options available, which includes the cakes.
I would recommend this place and I would...
Read moreIf you haven't dropped into Drinc, you are missing a treat. For a relatively small coffee shop, Drinc is big on a deliciously varied menu. I have a penchant for milkshakes. Drinc offers the best in Bury as far as I am concerned. Thick, velvety, plenty of cream and the beautifully crafted little wafer makes it a visual as well as a culinary treat. My partner loves skinny flat whites. Not being a massive coffee drinker, I have been converted at Drinc. Lots of flavour without bitterness. The perfect lunchtime pick up. Staff are welcoming and polite (without the pushiness of other places), attentive to the needs of mums and tots and go out of their way to make sure everything is as you want it. Great to observe their dedication to cleanliness and hygiene. There is always a fantastic choice, and whether it's a humble cheese on toast or a chicken wrap (or indeed a milkshake), it's all beautifully presented. Superb ambiance and it's great to share the space with our canine charges too. As Spock said "Live long...
