We had a reservation but were being hurried from the moment we sat down. Rudeness continued throughout with all the warmth and charm, that the other reviewers are talking about, nowhere to be seen when it came to our table. Probably something to do with us choosing to order a mostly vegetable based meal (we are not vegetarians and were just choosing dishes we wanted) and no beer. When we ordered an extra naan mid-meal, the owner refused to give it to us. I have never been to a restaurant where they refuse to serve food to customers because you 'should have ordered at first'. And all curry houses I have been to in the UK and elsewhere, would give you fresh bread during the meal (also de rigueur in South Asian dining generally but let's leave that aside). When we tried to get the owner's attention to point out that the bill was missing one of the items, the owner at first refused to engage for as long as possible thinking we are complaining about something. Nonetheless, we left a tip because we are Bengali and could hear and understand the staff and the owner having a proper go at each other throughout the service. Food was forgettable and needlessly spicy though we did not ask for it to...
Read moreAsked for a table they they said no problem. Then I asked if they have a child seat/high chair, the guy passed me to another guy, this guy said oh sorry no child chair available, I said that's fine, we can manage with a normal chair, straightaway apparently too busy and no tables available as I mention a child will be coming.
I said that's strange you just took my name for a table and now you're saying no places available, the second guy said oh no the other guy is new and doesn't know how it works. I challenged that did you just lie to me as soon as I mentioned a child will be coming.
Appreciate that children can act up in a restaurant, but they can be taken outside to calm down and everyone has to be a little understanding, will no one ever have children that come to restaurants? They are our future in society you can't only look at them as a nuisance to your business. Shocking...
Read moreA group of us were staying at Dinas Dinlle campsite and after a long day on the beach, we got hungry for a curry. I asked everywhere and phoned all around... even the Campsite warden said I had no chance of having one delivered... challenge accepted!!! I was lucky enough to speak to the manager of Bengal Spice and he doubled down to help us on our curry-quest. Remember our campsite was nearly 7 miles away. He managed to get our entire order to us, correctly and still hot and all of us agreed it was one of the nicest curries we had ever had. No idea how they did it, it was like some kind of spiced based voodoo! Anyhow, if you are lucky enough to be near (or far away it seems) from Bengal Spice, I fully recommend giving them a try... I love my curries and consider myself to be a bit of an expert on them, you won't be...
