Less than one star. Terrible experience today at this cafe. Been lots of times previously before the management changed. Went today and the food was terrible. Ordered hot roast sandwich and chips. Gravy was lumpy and there was a handful of scrappy chips. The bread was frozen and hard. The beef was like leather, only one small piece too. Sent it back, it took them ages to return with a new sandwich. This time, a brown bap, again, hard, stale and it did not go with beef. Needed to be a white bap. When they asked how the food was, I said terrible and could not believe they were going to chard me nearly £24 for it, and they said nothing. I said I’d write a review, they said “yes you do that”. Terrible service, food, business plan. Freezing cold too, one of the staff even said “worst seat in the house”. Awful experience will never return. Waste of...
Read moreI decided to have a coffee outside in the Shopping Centre. I was told if I wanted to sit outside I had to order food. Ok I ordered jam and cream scone but was told there were none. I plumped for a malteser brownie with cream which looked good when it arrived. It was however, quite dense and I struggled to cut through it with my fork. Coffee was ok. To top it all off I paid with a Scottish bank note and the waitress said " you'll have to come in she won't accept that". I went in to have my ten pound Scottish note waved in my face with the comment "I can't take that". I only had Scottish banknotes no English notes so she said I had to pay by card which I did but I wasn't happy with the whole demeanour of the woman. The young waitress seemed to be scared of her. I...
Read moreThe menu sounds nice. The usual cafe fare jacket potatoes, toasties soup of the day. Sadly the food doesn’t hold up on quality or value. Ordered minestrone soup with bread. The soup felt little more than dried packet soup, watery lukewarm with a few shrivelled peas and tiny thin bits of pasta accompanied by 1 slice of white loaf bread. The tuna melt was not your usual nice luscious tuna and cheese melted but tuna toasted in white bread. The tea was fine. Two food items a 1 cup of tea £14.50. I accept cafes have overheads but the mark up on this basic food is huge and I came away feeling ripped off. If it is going to survive and compete against other establishments in Westgate it will have to up its game. It’s a one and...
