From California/Arizona, and I previously lived in Mexico City. Came here recently looking for some decent Mexican food, bearing in mind we are of course in the UK. The guy working here was super nice and friendly. Unfortunately the bean and cheese burrito here was only so-so, but not particularly good. For example, I’d say it was worse than chipotle in the states. I can explain why — first, despite paying extra for guacamole and sour cream, there was almost none in either in our two burritos (not great for 2 pounds extra for each burrito). We could barely taste or detect them in either. Second, there was too much rice in the burrito and not enough beans, and the burrito had the wrong type of cheese than would typically be found in a standard Mexican burrito, so the taste all around was mediocre. The salsa was totally fine. To be sure, we LOVE Mexican food, but my wife said it was one of the most mediocre burritos she had eaten in years — thus my 3 star rating. If you’ve never been to Mexico or the U.S. , you may be satisfied with the burrito here, but if you’re used to real Mexican food this place will probably be a disappointment. My recommendation would be to improve and increase the amount of guac, use less rice and more beans, and improve the quality of the cheese that is used. I was surprised by the quality of the burritos here given that the guy working at the cart seemed to be from Mexico, so should definitely know what a good burrito...
Read moreIn my quest for a decent lunchon the move, I stumbled upon Alchile Food Truck, and let me tell you, it's a hidden gem that deserves all the praise. Owned by the fantastic Heath, this place offers an elevated experience that goes beyond your typical food truck fare.
Heath greeted me with a warm welcome and an infectious passion for his craft. His dedication to quality is evident, and it reflects in every hand-pressed taco served at Alchile. Speaking of which, let's talk about those tacos!
I opted for the hand-pressed tacos, and while Alchile may not be the cheapest option in town, the price is justified by the outstanding quality and flavor. The hand-pressed aspect takes these tacos to a whole new level.
The atmosphere around the food truck is lively, creating a laid-back ambiance that complements the culinary experience. Whether you're a taco aficionado or just someone looking to elevate their lunch game, Alchile is the place to be.
In conclusion, if you're willing to invest a little more for an exceptional culinary experience, Alchile Mexican Food Truck is the spot for you. Heath's dedication to quality and those hand-pressed tacos have left a lasting impression on me, and I can't wait to return for another round of...
Read moreIt may look like your average “pink” neighborhood food van, but Alchile Mexican Gourmet is anything but! I went with two friends on a Wednesday night, and was immediately greeted by the most friendly staff and incredible aroma of FRESH Mexican food.
The pink van was filling up quickly (it was almost 14:00 pm) but we managed to get one of the four tables arranged outside as a couple was just leaving.
We ordered tacos “al pastor”... they where recommended by the staff, then ribeye steak tacos and the vegetarian option, tacos believe it or not, made from cactus plants.... The tortillas as fresh as it gets, they just made all of them in front of us! They are a bluish colour full of goodness, and the fresh chilli sauce, wasn’t too spicy neither, robust but not overpowering. When we tasted “al pastor” (marinaded pork meat) tacos our expectations continued to be exceeded.
The vegetarian cactus taco was crisp, flavourful, along with lovely feta cheese, The toppings worked together beautifully. The ribeye steak tacos were packed with flavour, tender and very little fat. By the end of our Mexican-taco-gourmet-journey we were planning...
