Coffee is good and they have good options, however the service works as if they weren’t aware they are located in front of a train station. Have been there many times with the intention of grabbing a nice coffee before catching my train. However, half of the times had to give up because the service is too slow: Absolute dedication to finalise the milk art in top of a paper-cup coffee that will be covered with a lid; or helping their colleagues to tidy up the counter before finalising a take away flat white.
The shop is also organised in a way that people gets stucked with their backpacks and lugagges in a hallway, as after receiving your take away coffee, you need to walk to the end of a long counter just to take a lid for your cup, and then walk back across the long queue waiting to be served in order to be able to get out of the shop. Many times it is difficult to do it as the entrance-counter area gets easily packed (specially with people carrying luggage, as it is normal when you are so close from a train station).
I am writing this review while drinking the worst coffee i ever had, got it in the platform while rushing to my train after giving up the queue at Gails :( I would have loved to have THEIR coffee as the product is...
Read moreThis is the fourth time I have come into Gail's at this location it's so dissapointing!!. I have been to other Gail's locations but never experienced this. So today is the third time I have had this situation at the station. I now do not want to come back to this gails unless Im getting a take away coffee. It's gone 10am I ordered a coffee and some sourdough toast before my train in 45mins. The server went back to the 'chef' in the kitchen who was not busy (I could see into the kitchen) she came back to me and said it would be 30mins for toast, what again really!!! This has happened three times now when I have tried to order some toast before my train, I have been given various wait times of between 30 and 45 miniutes, plus at Easter I ordered a toasted hot cross bun but was told they couldn't toast these as it messed up the grill!!! I'm done with this Gail's now sadly. To say I am dissapointed is an understatement this is so bad! Does it really take 30 to 45 mins for toast? No.
Service here was good only if you were taking away.
Plus the pastries all looked overcooked and not that appetising. The server was very apologetic and I could see she was embarrassed but couldn't do anything. Gail's Cambridge Station you should...
Read moreGreat place to grab a bite. Tasty selection of savory breads, as well as pastries 🥐
I recommend the focaccia, the parmesan chicken bun, and the cauliflower sandwich. I’m usually not very fond of cauliflower, but the mix of ingredients and the sauce goes together very well. The bread was good as well, but a bit chewy. The sandwich had probably been in the counter for a while. Which it’s fine, but since these sandwiches are more expensive than other options nearby I was expecting top quality. If you go there right after they are made, they probably taste ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️😋
I’ve only had the Chai latte (with soya milk), which tastes good. I wish they had other options of lattes, other than coffee, like a matcha latte, for instance. That’s just because I don’t drink coffee ☕️😅
The seating is alright. Not super cozy, but you get a lot of light from outside from the glass walls, which it’s awesome ☀️
There’s free Wi-Fi as well, which it’s convenient since for some reason my phone doesn’t have coverage when I’m in there...
