An excellent addition to the Cambridge scene.

Bread and dips were a nice way to start. I’m not a huge fan of rapeseed oil, I think olive oil is just nicer, but the hummus was exceedingly good, probably the nicest I’ve ever had. Broad bean pesto very good, and gordal olives are my favourite type.

Second set of starters was even better, in particular the monkfish cheek tempura, which was world class. Terrine nice, soup very tasty. Only one problem with the taramasalata and dips - not nearly enough taramasalata! It was supremely good, and I could have eaten 2-3x as much. As it was, ratio was too veg heavy.

Main course was pork and cod. Personally I find a piece of meat with gravy to be a bit boring, although it was well executed. I understand that it’s probably necessary to have something safe like this on a menu though. The cod was way more interesting, and more enjoyable to eat. Perfectly cooked, with an unusual, and exceptionally good, sauce.

There were three side dishes. The new potatoes were the only let down of the meal. I just don’t think boiled potatoes are good in a restaurant setting - they need more butter and more salt. These were very bland and sucked up flavour from whatever you ate it with. The green salad was very above average, and the tomatoes were possibly the nicest I’ve ever eaten, and I’ve had a lot of good tomatoes. Brilliant.

Treacle tart was nice, truffled baron bigod was much more mature than any baron bigod I’ve had before. Very stinky, almost like a St Marcellin.

We finished with a madeleine (freshly cooked, good) and two very high quality truffles. Espressos were fine, but not very hot.

All in all, really very high quality cooking, would very...

Best Sunday dinner in Cambridge. New gem for dining. Outstanding quality of produce, and make sure you’re hungry because you’re in for a treat. A stunning array of starters; the pea soup was a favourite, vivid and fresh. The cured trout was an unlikely but brilliant addition to a Sunday roast menu. The main event was sumptuous, just what you want and so much more! Rich yet beautifully balanced, perfect roast potatoes, melt in the mouth roast beef and indulgent beef cheek were standout. We shared the savoury and sweet dessert options, both were greedily and happily devoured. You can’t leave without a freshly baked madeleine with sweet, sticky, pretty flower studded jam.

The drinks menu is incredibly well considered - each cocktail option has a non-alcoholic alternative. The staff are passionate and knowledgeable and can help guide you through the choices, although the menu itself is comprehensive for those who want to find something themselves.

Honestly, this isn’t your typical Sunday roast experience - it was like being in a stylish European restaurant. Relaxed, bright yet cosy and intimate. I can’t wait to come back with friends and family, and especially for a date night. It is a set menu but you’re clearly in very safe hands of owners and chefs with a vision that’s...

Foods were phenomenal, nice warm focaccia with several dips and incredibly tasty fried monkfish, the fish was perfectly cooked and the outside batter was light yet crispy, lovely chicken terrine with sweet prune chutney, cute selection of vegetables with cod’s roe sauce was amazing although the vegetables could’ve been cooked bit more for my taste

Cod with peppercorn sauce was delicious, juicy and flaky cod, intense flavour of fermented peppercorn was an impressive combination although they were quite over seasoned in general, lamb was super tender and moist, really liked that touch of cumin flavour in carrot puree, side dishes such as salads and potatoes were good too

Unfortunately dessert was not my taste, quite decent treacle tart but really wasn’t my thing, drinks were pretty good and happy with the service too, some seats were quite cold as the air con was directly hitting us and music could get quite loud and again the speaker was right next to us, portions of foods definitely could be bigger as even after all the mains it did not fill me up much

Great to see some newly opened restaurant in Cambridge, really looking forward to...
