Wow. Table of 7 booked last night for a birthday meal. Ordered at approximately 7.30pm. after an hour of waiting and watching tables be served that arrived and ordered after us we received 1 pizza. Around the same time we were told oh by the way, anyone who ordered vegan (5/7 of us), we have run out of vegan cheese so you'll have to wait another 30 mins, when I pointed out we had waited an hour already I was simply told sorry, we're busy - fine, but why did it take an hour for you to realise you had no vegan cheese left and you were also serving others before us? Had you used it all up on other orders and ran out for us? Vegans agreed they wanted their pizza with no cheese, I however was having normal cheese and still no pizza. Some cheeseless pizzas came out, one was burnt to a crisp so was sent back - about 8.45pm with the stressed waitress dumping it down saying 'sorry, but it's an absolute mess here'. A cheesy garlic bread came out which was also burnt underneath but the ones of us who hadn't been fed yet were so hungry we ate it. At 9pm the bar staff get involved because we're still waiting and the kitchen closes at 9. Still waiting for my very normal cheese pizza, vegan pizza and gluten free vegan pizza, but don't worry, because they are going to make sure we are prioritised now! Anyway, 9.15pm I get my pizza, not sure it had the extra cheese I'd ordered, but ok, tasted great, and also my friend who ordered a vegan pizza, but we're told the gluten free one would be a bit longer - what?! And this was the birthday girl too! We had 2 guests who had already left before she was fed! Gluten free vegan came out at 9.20pm..... black underneath so she didn't eat it, she ate the rocket and cheese from the top and left the pizza base - good job I had made and brought a cake for her to eat! I felt sorry for the waitress, she was clearly stressed and on her own and I know none of this was her fault, it was the kitchen's, they should have been the ones to come out and apologise and explain. Surely it's common sense that if you are overwhelmed you stop taking new orders until you are...
Read moreWe've been going to Oscar's at its various Cambridge venues for a long time now, so it's really disappointing that I'm writing this review. Ordered a collection from the Portland for 6:15. Arrived and was told it was just going into the oven and would be 5 mins. Finally got my two pizzas at 6:45, no apology or acknowledgement of the delay. I also noticed that the free tiramisus you are supposed to get for collection were missing. When I asked about this, I was told "we've run out". Nothing else. A shame they only mentioned this when I asked and the server didn't seem overly bothered by this, but at least the pizzas had arrived.
Got them home and more disappointment. The Ultimate Pep looked smaller than usual, more sparsely topped and a little burnt. The Pumpkin Special looked a bit bigger at least, but was very burnt. Hungry, we tucked in anyway. More disappointment. The Pepperoni pizza was clearly not the Ultimate Pep I ordered. No honey, no chilli and one type of pepperoni. Clearly this was the (cheaper!) Pep.
Such a shame. This place used to be great. I've noticed a lot of their emails have been focused on the London venue now, so maybe this is the end for Oscar's...
Read moreGood pizzas but the business seems deceitful. On Friday we got a 'Buy one get one off!' deal through our post box. It says this deal is applicable on Sundays and is valid until 01/01/2025. With this in mind we made our plans to order this pizza on Sunday, only to find out that this deal does not exist (couple days after it was advertised). Their website just says that this deal isn't valid anymore as it wasn't benefiting the business. What? Maybe don't send this offer through mail to people. We got this on Friday and on Sunday it already doesn't exist...Dishonest behaviour that aims to get people's attention without giving them the...
