I recently had the pleasure of visiting The Thorne Tree Bistro for Sunday lunch with a group of friends, and I must say, it was an incredible experience. I had seen on Facebook that they catered for coeliac, even offering a dedicated coeliac menu, which is extremely rare to find. As someone with specific dietary needs, I have often struggled to find a place that not only accommodates my needs but also provides a variety of options. So, I was filled with excitement to see how the experience would unfold, and I can confidently say that it exceeded all expectations.

The food at The Thorne Tree Bistro is truly amazing. Despite my dietary restrictions, I did not feel like I missed out on any part of the dining experience. The flavours were exceptional, and the presentation was top-notch. The attention to detail in catering to coeliac requirements was evident in every dish. It's clear that the team at The Thorne Tree Bistro takes great care in ensuring that everyone, regardless of their dietary needs, can enjoy a delicious meal.

During my visit, I had the opportunity to chat with the owner, who kindly explained that they are committed to accommodating every dietary need. They even mentioned that I could enjoy an afternoon tea with the same choices and offerings while still catering to my condition. This level of thoughtfulness and inclusivity is truly commendable.

I cannot rate my experience at The Thorne Tree Bistro any higher. It is evident that they have created something rather special with their venue. From the impeccable service to the outstanding food, everything was exceptional. I am already looking forward to my next visit and experiencing more of what this wonderful establishment has to offer.

Congratulations to The Thorne Tree Bistro for creating such a remarkable dining experience. You have truly set the bar high for other establishments. Keep up the fantastic work, and I can't wait to come back...

I cannot believe I have just eaten a meal the quality of which, would grace a top London restaurant.

I had two hours wait for a train so decided to look for something outside the station. Thankfully I walked past the drab fast food outlets and Wetherspoons near the station and made the mere 6-minute walk to this little cafe/bistro. It was a Sunday at 4pm but the owners welcomed me and I had an absolutely delicious homemade quiche with an equally delicious homemade coleslaw with a fresh salad and good freshly prepared chips. It was SUPERB. Now I wish I had had the appetite for the roast Sunday lunch which was also on the menu.

I wasn’t going to have any dessert but changed my mind - and very glad I did after I tasted it. It was the most delicious raspberry crème brûlée I have EVER tasted (and my wife and I eat regularly at good London restaurants) but with excellent value at a fraction of the price.

This place - run by a lovely couple called Colin and Hannah - deserves to succeed. I really hope it does. It is...

I was coming to Carlisle for a training course being run as part of me becoming a Walk Leader. I had made a mini-resolution to try and support small independent businesses wherever possible; so I did some research before travelling and found the Thorne Tree Bistro on Facebook. The menu looked perfect and it was in a handy location between the railway station and the town centre. I found it easily on my short walk up from the station and when I arrived I was greeted warmly. The menu was as advertised; varied and good value. When I got my lunch, it was of a very high quality and extremely tasty. Overall, if I’m ever in Carlisle again I’ll definitely pay the Bistro another visit. They clearly have a loyal clientele, as I witnessed during my short visit and I can certainly see why. Congratulations on your award nomination which is richly deserved and I wish you all the best in your future...
