Two of us arrived at 10pm on Friday evening without a reservation and the staff were happy to serve us. We’d already walked past three curry houses in the town centre with no customers, but this place still had people in which I think must be testament to their reputation. Service was good and friendly, and we never felt rushed. Poppadoms fresh and addictive, king prawn puri and lamb chop tikka starters both really tasty. Fish curry (madras?) and chicken dansak for mains, boiled rice and a really soft fresh peshwari naan. If we’d only been having mains we might have found the portions a little small, but as part of a larger meal they were great. Would love to see some more dessert options, but the mango kulfi we shared was nice. A bottle of house wine at around £23, so not cheap but not extortionate either. Everything felt clean and cared for. Overall we’d really recommend, and we’ll...
Read moreOne of the worst Indian meals I have had! I don't understand how this restaurant has so many good reviews. We ordered a takeaway to be delivered. When it arrived, we found the chutneys had been sitting on top of the hot food trays, so were very warm and unpleasant. The yoghurt based dips were particularly unpleasant when hot. The onion bahjis were tough, dry and tasteless. My chicken balti was bland and flavourless. Probably the worst item was the naan bread. It was so tough, it was like chewing shoe leather! As someone who regularly bakes bread, I don't understand how you make naan so tough! My wife's chicken makhoni was ok, and the chicken tikka starter was nice. We ordered from Eastern Spice because our usual restaurant is closed on Tuesdays. We won't use them again. It has made us appreciate just how good our usual restaurant (Jee Ja Jees...

Cons: Honestly, if you’re an Indian looking for authentic Indian cuisine, it’s not that delicious. Ordered Pappodom at around 2 or 3 pounds and they gave it with a sauce plate. The sauces and the dips were yummy, I agree. But we never asked for it and when the bill came they charged some 6 pounds just for the sauces.
I mean I think it should have been informed that the sauces are payable, it was more expensive than the pappad itself.
But altogether, a pleasant experience. May try again, not for...
