Black Gold Coffee — Restaurant in Cheltenham

Just came to the one near Nationwide for the first time today, I asked for an iced latte and got a takeaway cup that was full to the top of the actual lid, I didn't mind as I felt is was generous they gave us so much coffee! However it was starting to spill so I asked if they could give me a bigger cup as I worried it would keep spilling, I had the most patronising response from the worker, she said in the most condescending tone that as long as I don't 'jump up and down' it shouldn't spill and that nothing would happen and then started to raise her voice at me saying 'you will be absoloutely fine' as if a mother is telling off a child. She went on to be so rude that my friends and family couldn't believe that she was being so rude to me. I said why do you need to speak to me like that as I only asked for a bigger cup and I know I wasn't rude in my speaking to her when asking and she started to raise her voice at me again. I said okay I'm just going to leave now and she started shouting at me to stop walking because she had more to say. My brother in law and sister said politely to let us leave as she was being rude and then she went on to show that she was pregnant and she said maybe this is the reason she was being so rude. This is no excuse, I wasn't being rude at all I've worked in hospitality myself and I would never ever be rude for no reason at all when all I was doing is asking if they had a bigger cup for my drink. As we left she told her staff that we are banned from coming in ever again and we wouldn't get served if we did. She was the only member of staff that was unruly and confrontational for no reason. This was at 16:45 on 22nd June 2024 so you can look and see who was on shift then. Even if you ask the other members of staff they will explain how she went from 0-100 in a matter of seconds. You need to do better...

Very nice atmosphere and decor, and lovely staff. The coffe was ok (although not my favourite cappuccino as the milk was too hot and too much in proportion) and the pastries and sandwiches (although I didn't tasted them) seemed tasty and there was a good selection. I would have given 5 stars if the cappuccino had been better , as everything else seems great!

Good anti covid measures : one way system to get in and out ; hand sanitizers just outside the toilet and by the counter; toilet with a code so that only one customer at the time can get in; outside space to sit; tables distant enough from one another and good ventilation in the inside space. Staff didn't wear a mask or didn't use gloves when serving though, and sugar/ wood sticks/ tissues were available on a communal table for customer to pick up.

Unfortunately there weren't many customers when I went, so I will try to go back to help the business as it's dwfitnely worth...

If you like coffee , don’t go here !! We went in today ordered 2 cappuccino. Assistant wasn’t particularly friendly . The coffees arrived and were so so hot we couldn’t even get the liquid to our lips . That is not how to serve coffee . If the milk is too hot it burns the coffee and also the milk . Absolutely the worst coffee ever . I managed a sip eventually and yes all tasted burnt revolting . My husband also had same experience . We left our cups full and left the cafe . No point in complaining to the staff . They only had interest in chatting to each other . You need to train your staff how to make a proper coffee with out burning it . We will...
