Guilt Trip in Cheltenham - letās start with the coffee - easily one of the best Iāve had in town. Smooth, rich, and packed with flavour, as I drank it I wanted to immediately go back and order a second. My daughter got a vanilla and honey iced latte that she also really enjoyed.
Their donut game is next-level too; I had the Blueberry Cheesecake donut, and it was deliciously indulgent, the creamy filling was very cheesecake like, a great mix of sweet and tangy with every bite. They clearly donāt mess around with quality here - I get a sense that they make what they make because they are very good at making them.
The toasted sandwich menu looked great too, but I had lunch plans, so next time Iām in town Iām going back to try one. And trust me, there will be a next time.
The staff were genuinely some of the friendliest Iāve encountered in town. The barista was great; they were answering questions, engaging and helpful. Guilt Tripās got their own merch, and I can guess why - Iām already a fan after just one visit.
They also sold Biltong, plus packets of a South African dried meat stick I think is called DroĆ«wors, but they called āTick Tongā.
All in all, Guilt Trip knows exactly how to focus on doing a few things really well. Iām keen to go back and everytime I do I want to try one of each of the things they sell, and maybe then Iāll even think about...
Ā Ā Ā Read more2025 Update - just came back and clearly still understaffed. 20 minutes to wait for a coffee but there were only about 8 people sat down. They also started serving coffee in paper cups which is always a telltale sign.
Shows promise but needs some work.
Staff clearly stressed and overworked, snapping at each other in front of customers.
Tables upstairs piled high with dishes which were ignored for the 45 minutes we were in there (and there were a lot of half eaten doughnuts, not sure if that's because of the quality of them or just a coincidence). No trays available, which made taking food and drinks upstairs very awkward. They used takeaway coffee cups for drinking in instead of mugs. No plates left (as most of them were left on tables upstairs) so had to eat doughnuts from bags.
The simplistic decor is edging on looking neglected, unfinished, and run down rather than being stylish.
One of the ring doughnuts we ordered was pretty soggy whilst I'm certain that the other was not the one I ordered (however it was nice).
Will revisit in a month or two to see if things have improved, as I recognise at that they've only been open for a few weeks...
