Finding myself in Central a Cheltenham, and started looking for somewhere to eat. I like to try out different places and compare my experiences on Trip Advisor. As I find standards overall very high, find myself so far giving 4’s and 5’s and I appreciate that it is a very tough market. I would like to give 5, so that is the staring point, and any negative features would lead to a down grading. The first positive point was that it was inviting from the outside, with menus and prices clearly displayed, which looked very reasonable. I was attracted to the all day breakfast at £5.95. I would like to have seen a food hiegiene rating clearly displayed, as this is also a consideration. I find this was 4, good, which is acceptable, and could easily be upgraded next assessment. The Cafe was busy, but not uncomfortably so, and I was enticed to go in and received immediate attention. I ordered the all day breakfast with the option of an extra item of mushrooms for £1,making it £6.95.My next item on the tick list was good quality, quantity, and value, and I do not expect to pay more than £10 with a drink to pass this test. The food came with amazing speed when a delay would have been quite understanable. It also passed the quantity, quality test, and with change from a £10 note, and an £8 billit passed the quality test. With pleasant and efficient staff have no hesitation in awarding the highest rating of 5 stars. Would love to see you get a 5 Star hiegiene rating and if this was prominently displayed at the entrance would even more be an enticement for...
Read moreIt was a comedy of errors when we arrived. Another customer accidentally flicked baked beans at me 😂 we had a good chuckle. Ordered 1 coke and 1 glass of wine, they brought coke and sparkling water, we asked again for the glass of wine, a different waitress (1 of 6 or 7 standing around) brought a bottle of prosecco over, again we asked for 1 glass of wine, another waitress brought 2 glasses of wine. We gave up at this point and just had both glasses! The sausage bap was very nice. The chicken curry was Very old school, 1970s style. It was nice enough. The rice was slightly under cooked therefore chalky and the chips were very dry, oven chips. I couldn't eat them. Their onion rings were absolutely delicious though and the waitresses were very friendly. It was empty when we arrived but it filled up very quickly as expected during race week. Some good points but I would...
Read moreCramped with no social distancing and no face mask required. Small screens have been put up as a poor attempt to follow government guidelines however I think the owners needs to return to school and learn about measurement, and about capacity because the shop was full. Waiting staff need to be taught how to serve correctly, passing hot plate of food over small children's heads are unacceptable. When waiting staff were told not to do this the reply was 'I wont bang their head, and i wont spill it's This is completely unacceptable. No you would not purposely bang a child's head or spill hot food over their heads causing possible burns and injuries to their faces. But accidents happen, and are unforeseen and therefore serve properly to avoid any chance of it!!!
No thought for the public just about the money in the till. Shame on you Spencer's Cafe. Wont be coming...
