Good Japanese food, the ramen is great! One of my favourite Japanese restaurants in Cheltenham; better quality and more authentic food than the chain restaurants, plus Wakame is much much cheaper than others in Cheltenham. Recommended for anyone who loves sushi, ramen or Japanese food in general. Plenty of vegetarian options but limited vegan choices. The Tofu ramen is super tasty, huge bowl of noodles and the big chunks of Tofu taste almost like duck (very tasty). The vegetarian duck rolls were very disappointing however. Relatively fast and efficient service, they give you food as it's ready (Japanese style serving) so the food is fresh and delicious. Toilets weren't the cleanest however, so avoid these. Many drink options including wine, sake and bubble tea are available. Drinks have plastic straws unless you ask for them without. Reusable chopsticks and cutlery are available but disposable bamboo chopsticks are provided at the table.

Not only the best Japanese restaurant in the area but in my opinion, one of the best restaurant in the area. Current personal circumstances and a passion for food allowed us to discover restaurants in and around Cheltenham. There are a lot of fantastic places, but most of the time, they come with a huge price tag. The beauty of Wakame is that you get amazing food, great service and a drink without breaking the bank. Their egg fried rice is absolutely delicious( I'm obsessed 🍚🤤), sashimi fresh, and their miso paste homemade. When dining at Wakame you genuinely feel like home. The place is warm, clean and comfy. People are so friendly and accommodating. We love coming back there and are looking forward to the next visit. Thank you Wakame, it's been a pleasure 🙏

Amazing food! I honestly loved it! The noodles tasted exactly the same as the ones I’ve had in Malaysia. 🇲🇾 The only minuses are that the place looks really poor from the outside and from the inside so you don’t really know what to expect. It’s not like it has to look posh or anything but it looks more like a quick takeaway place rather than a restaurant with a really great food. We came in around 6pm on a Saturday and there was only one table taken. But literally after half an hour it started getting full so probably it would be better to book on a weekend. It also is located on the street full of takeaway places maybe that’s where that feeling comes from. But honestly, give it a go! You won’t regret. 🙌🏻 And it’s also super cheap.

I was really disappointed after reading such good reviews. Me and my boyfriend ate here on a Saturday. We were put next to a loud party of about 13 so we couldn’t really hear each other speak. The couple on the table next to us asked to move because it was so bad. We ordered two main meals and we each had a side dish. We also ordered drinks. My main came out about five minutes before my boyfriend’s. The sides arrived slightly after my boyfriend’s main. We had to ask for our drinks twice and they were brought over part way through our meal. I couldn’t eat my “vegetable and tofu” ramen noodles (they were basically supernoodles without the flavour and the broth tasted like fish; not vegetarian as advertised on the menu) and my boyfriend didn’t really eat his main dish either. However, the vegetable spring rolls (our side dishes) were very nice. We paid just under £30 and we both left hungry; we will not...
