Walked in and was immediately greeted by a waiter in a pleasantly smart outfit. Was impressed with the green apron which seemed to be of higher quality material which immediately sets precedence.
Was seated close to the back of the restaurant, and the quick journey allowed viewing of the spectacular tiles and contrast of luxuriously casual seating. Of which I would add, would benefit some having cushions for the booth style seats. Moveable tables I will add though.
After being seated was asked for drinks, waiter was on the ball. Upon delivery was also given complementary bread, and a long bowl split into 3 - chilli/tomato pesto?, selecio of olives, mint yoghurt. Bread was warm, the chilli dip gave a little heat, olives were good by others' account, and the yoghurt tasty.
Order of starters and mains came shortly thereafter. I chose the Homous Kavurma, and the prawns and whitebait were chosen by others.
Before I knew it we were tucking in - Good size portions! However I had to ask if the humus came with bread, as the original bowl had been depleted. the waiter brough a warm bowl within a few minutes of my request.
My mother who is also diabetic asked us not to allow her to order the prawns next time. She remarked the sauce was too plentiful and sweet. Not something which I would deduct points for but we will be asking for less sauce next time.
Contrary to the swift arrival of starters, the mains took a little longer. However, this time allowed me to take a better look at the aesthetic interior of the restaurant. The fine details are much to admire. Every person I glanced across seemed to be sharing the good experience. And the waiters were constantly dotted about the floor. It would be very easy to attract attention for any additional needs.
Considering we were seated closest to where the food was cooked, on the left hand side wall, I did not once feel like we were being disturbed in conversation, or barged past.
When the mains arrived, presentation was there. Long plates allowed the partitions of the meal to be accurately displayed, and eaten from.
I chose the mixed shish. I am not usually impressed but both the chicken and lamb were cooked to perfection. Never have I had such succulent meat from a Turkish restaurant.
All-in-all, was around £40 a head. A little more than other places, but was well worth the experience. We will be returning come July - With a...
Read moreService was very slow. I went with my other half on a Saturday evening. It was very busy but we waited over an hour for our food. We were sat near the bar and the cashier, and have seen that they prioritize takeaway orders as so many delivery drivers were coming and going. The people next to us waited even longer. Such a waste of time to be honest.
We wanted to order our starter and main at the same time and also to have them served at the same time as i knew might be a long wait in-between but the waiter suggested not to. So we followed his suggestion only to regret it later as we had to wait 30mins for our starter and over an hour for our main course. When it arrived, the salad which the main course came with was missing again another waiting game of 20mins.
Later on the waiter apologized and actually admitted that the takeaway orders take priority. Seems ridiculous to have your dine in customers wait over an hour for their food and charge a 'discretionary service charge'.
The food was ok but the portions were small - prices are quite steep. I ordered Chicken Shish with yoghurt and about half of my plate was yoghurt. Have been to better Turkish restaurants that sell better food with lower prices. Plus in other restaurants the Turkish Tea is complimentary.
I'm hesitant in coming back due to my...
Read moreSecond time visiting with a large party, once at Christmas and once on the 10th February and both times the restaurant was packed and seemingly overbooked. I appreciate that there were 3 large tables upstairs alongside a full downstairs however 3.5 hours for a table of 20 was too long. We had 3 tables, a 10, a 6 and a 4 next to each other rather than one long table so the party was split up which wasn't great as it was someone's 40th birthday who wanted to spesk to everyone. We ordered some efes and cocktails and after 45 minutes got told they had run out of efes. Should have said straight away It had run out rather than leaving us to wait and order our own drinks at the bar instead. It took 1.25 hours for the starters to come out baring in mind we had pre-booked all the food. My starter the mucver had run out and they didn't tell me until I was the last at the table. Got hastily given some falafel as an apology which was cooked for our table by mistake but wasn't given the option to change my order or look at the menu to clsee if I wanted something else. Mains came out relatively shortly afterwards after the host had been given the food order which they should have requested at the start. Overall a poor evening and not a restaurant I would recommend to anyone which is a shame as the...
