We had lunch in a typical small pub, not at all fancy or posh, but they served basic good pub grub. I had a pint of Seafarers English ale, the first time I'd tried that, and a burger with chips and salad. I've seen them John Wayne films.' I then said that my wife was English and didn't take to life in the US, so we moved here. He wished me well, and the barmaid smiled and gave me a knowing wink. I returned to our table and said to my wife:'I've got a new friend.' She said she saw what was going on and then rolled her eyes to the ceiling. Our food arrived in good time, and the staff checked afterwards to make sure everything was OK. Top marks for...
