I found this cafe purely by chance; while I was visiting an adjacent shop I could see an outside dining area through a window. Service was pleasant and I was served quickly. My prawn and avocado salad was delicious. The avocado was missing, but this was spotted straightaway (I hadn't even noticed!) and brought straight out, so no problems at all. There was plenty of seating and it felt very relaxing. Prices were very reasonable and I will definitely return.

1st time there. It was OK staff were friendly and the food was good. Only thing they need to ask the customer if they could change their order instead of presuming. . Or ask the kitchen if the soup has changed.I asked what the soup of the day is and was told leek and potato. They came with tomato and basil soup. They changed it straight away. The hot chocolate was weak and watery.

Quirky and quaint little cafe. Friendly staff and while we didn't eat, menu looks comprehensive and meals on other tables tooked very nice. Coffee, however, disappointing. We're used to good coffee being from NZ but left here disappointed. Wife's mocha tasted of hot chocolate with no hint of coffee. My espresso was 'dull and boring' and hard to differentiate from an unstant.

As regulars, we stopped by on Saturday to have brunch, which consisted of a bacon sarnie, scrambled egg on toast, a toasted sandwich and chips, eggs benedict and poached eggs on toast.

Sit down was easy, in the main entrance aisle as it's a bit cooler than the main room, spotted by the staff almost instantly and within less than 3 mins we were bought menus and asked about drinks.

Very quick turnaround on the drinks, children loved the milkshakes and the server was very pleasant and patient.

Food orded shortly afterwards, which came out nice and quick, didn't have to wait long before being asked to order and this is whilst it was very busy inside.

Looking back at previous visits, we've never had to wait long at all and every member of staff has always been pleasant.

Onto the food.

Very well presented, on time, hot and plenty of it. We've learnt our lesson with Charlie Harpers as in the past we'd order food, then have to leave some of it as there was always so much, so went for something a little smaller this time.

Children smashed through the food, which they said was very tasty and just the right amount.

Eggs benedict, what can I say? Truly the best I've had in a long time and the first from Charlie Harpers, definetly won't be the last time and already looking forward to another visit.

Overall, as plenty of previous visits, a nice, quiet and enjoyable brunch, with friendly staff (despite being very busy) and great food, well priced and positioned on the high street.

Paying was made even easier as two staff knew exactly what ticket to price and was done very quickly, no need for table numbers or any faff.

Walked away happy, full of good food and still talking about the eggs benedict on a Monday in the office.

Looking forward to...

Good as long as you don't have dietary requirements. I'm a pescatarian with a dairy allergy. I asked for the vegetarian menu first then asked if they had a dairy free menu...I was handed a gluten free one. When they asked for my order I used the vegetarian menu, asked about dairy free and she wrote down gluten free. I told her I wasn't gluten free but dairy free and that it was an allergy. My vegetarian meal came out with bacon on it when the menu said beans. I queried this and said the menu says beans and I was told "no it comes with bacon". They did get me a separate ramekin of beans which was nice and I didn't mind moving the bacon off the plate and still eating th le toast underneath. A lot of hassel with what felt like little understanding from the staff of people's dietary needs. A shame as if they understood it could have been a much...

So I ordered a Charlie's special breakfast, food was ok, the black pudding was not of high quality and rather tasteless. I also ordered a pot of breakfast tea which tasted bitter and cheap. The staff did not interact with me very well at all and the guy who makes the hot beverages was stood by the door, walked in to then hold the door open for someone to go out and immediately looked at me and shut the door - right when he knew i was leaving and looked down and walked away. This I felt was extremely rude. Hence my honest 1 star review. Your customers should be your priority, they keep your business running! Not good service at all. Especially when I was polite towards the staff or anyone for...
