I have to rate this restaurant 5 stars with my PhD candidate status endorsement at the University of Edinburgh again. Should have given 500 stars if I could.
100% good packaging, 100% great tastes and quality, 100% authentic flavours and materials, 10000% ultra 5 starts rating! I would say here the Kimbap is the best that I’ve ever had in Edinburgh amongst so many Korean restaurants.
First, highly recommend that everyone tries any types of Kimbaps here, each flavour will be good as they are using the same meats from their main menus. 1000% authenticity proved by my northern Chinese ethnic in that I have traveled to Korea and Korea ethnical regions and have eaten Korean foods many times. And, the Korean style fried chicken is so Korean and so East Asian…which makes me cry 😢 you can’t have any kind of fried chicken like this in any other local restaurants. Light and so crispy, super slightly salted, with authentic sweet and sour sauce…OMG
The spicy pork and veggies Deopbap is a must as well!!! So 香气弥漫 이향기가 짙다! Cold Scottish winter but hot and warm and happy Korean Rice Bowl! So authentic! Huge cry again…
Tteobokki is authentic and great as well!
I will order as many times as possible and recommend this restaurant to my friends. Will also bring my friends to eat in! It’s just located...
Read moreI’m realizing now that it’s kinda pricey, comparing USD to Pounds, but it’s pretty average for the price of restaurant food in Edinburgh.
It was delicious—the servers seemed to know a great deal about the food and were passionate about it themselves, which is always a great sign. You always want your servers to like the food that they’re advertising to you!
As for the food itself, we ordered tteokbokki, bibimbap, and jeyuk bokkeum. Is it crazy to say that this is some of the best Korean food I’ve had, as a native Korean? I love jeyuk bokkeum sauce in general but hate the cut of pork but at Bibimbap, the pork was thinly sliced, which is exactly how I prefer it to be! The marination probably had loads of sugar, which made it so delicious. The tteokbokki sauce is also better than what I can make at home, and the rice cakes were so perfectly chewy. Each dish was supplemented with a small bowl of miso soup. I’m not usually a big fan of doenjangjjigae due to its richness, so the miso soup was perfectly paired with the strong marinade and sauces of the other dishes! Also, the rice was steamed well too, typical Korean rice consistency instead of Chinese food rice consistency. Yay!!!
I’d highly recommend to others (if I knew anyone here), and I’m jealous that I probably won’t be able to...
Read moreFantastic place, was on a random walk visiting edinburgh and noticed bibimbap, I've researched it before so I knew to come in and was not disappointed. Working 8 years in korean restaurants i do pay attention to detail and it's quite authentic, I can't really complain. Plus for having jinro brand soju as it's the best flavour wise. I've ordered to go - kimchi bokkumbap (fried rice) and bulgogi kimbap. They were both delicious, fried rice container was microwave suitable. I left half for this morning and after reheating it was just as delicious, rice didn't get dry or soggy, fantastic job. For anyone with sensitive teeth avoiding beef - don't, their bulgogi is very easy to eat, not a chewy mess at all :D interior is very nice, small but cosy and warm. All staff was nice and welcoming, the waiter (I didn't assume u were korean, my boss just made us learn korean at his restaurant so I assumed it happened everywhere🤣) was very nice, welcoming and let me yap with patience. If I manage, I'll definitely visit again before going back to poland. I can honestly recommend this place, as someone who's very picky with korean food, you won't be disappointed. Must try if you're just...
