We had a 'New York' set menu dinner for 2. If in short, I would not recommend this place.

Below I added comments amount atmosphere, service and current set menu.

Service:

When booked initially I specified that one of the fish meals needs to be replaced with veggiterian option. Then I reminded this at the entrance when greeted. Then I reminded this to the waiter and then we eventually got served 2 vegetarian options 🤷🏻

Also, we ordered one type of cocktails and that was mixed up as well.

and waiters when serving dishes mumbled everything extra fast with zero enthusiasm and were running off.

Overall, not much joy really from the process.

Atmosphere:

Usually I would expect somewhat elegant, quiet and calm atmosphere in places like this. However, it was quite crowded, very little space, quite noisy to the extend that it was hard to hear each, not much different from going to a regular pub. So focusing on enjoying the company of your partner/date and food was challenging.

Food:

Course 1 - Pepperoni Ragù, Panzanella, Parmesan Foam

There was so much parmesan foam that it was overtaking any other tastes and apart from intense parmesan it was hard to taste anything else. And serving was not very elegant, just everything put in small bowl.

Course 2 - B.E.C – Bacon, Egg & Cheese Smoked Bacon Belly, Confit Egg Yolk & Trapanese ‘Hot Sauce’

This course was just dissapointing and mediocre. it's a kind of an English breakfast served for dinner and nicely put on a plate.

Course 3 - Pastrami Sandwich - Ox ‘Pastrami Sandwich’, Choucroute, Pickled Kohlrabi, Battered Gherkin, Frenchies Emulsion

Pastrami was nice. Choucrouteand was such a small piece with such a mild taste, that it was hard to pick up the taste of ot. Pickled Kohlrabi and Gherkins were almost like as if I bought them at Lidl. Overall, not impressed, usual pastrami sandwich tastes better.

Course 4 - The Everything Bagel - Grenobloise Coalfish, Salt Baked Celeriac, Wild Garlic, Caper & Lemon Dressing

This was a nice and interesting set of combinations.

Course 5 “Double Chicken Please” Buttermilk Chicken, Hot Honey Sauce, Jalapeno Ketchup, Thai Basil & Hazelnut Pesto

3 different sauces with a little piece of chicken. Simply put, you don't have enough chicken to enjoy all the sauces, and if you mix them, it's a mess. I guess this was just a bad combination. but separately, everything tasted alright.

Course 6 - Lower East Side Apple Pie Baked Apple Creme, New York Cheesecake Sorbet, Dulce De Leche, Cookies & Cream Crumble

This was okay. Basically diconstructed cheesecake. Looked pleasant for the eye, but nothing extraordinary.

So, overall, if you seek an interesting food experience I would recommend to pick another place, like dinner at 'Aizle' for example or lunch at 'The kitchin'. It will be an extra £20, but at least you will have an actual unique and interesting experience, with caring service and relaxing atmosphere. If it's your first time trying a set tasting menu, well, I'm worried that this place might leave so so impression and felling that this experience is not worth the money.

Well, considering that I left £140 for a dinner for 2 + 2 drinks each + Service charge, I left with a strong feeling that there are enough places in Edi where I could have had a better dinner for less.

and no wonder this place is not mentioned in Michelin Guide 🤷🏻

'miser pays twice' as they say, and guess that was...

Over the years it safe to say I have been to Six by Nico’s over 30 times, every time has been ranging from good to excellent and I have recommended to countless people to try it. Unfortunately, this was not the case on Saturday 11th January, so it pains me to leave a honest bad review.

We got the Nostalgia menu, snacks, additional course, additional cocktail and wine pairing.

Firstly the snacks, Space Roast Raider (crushed roast potatoes) with pickled Onion, the pickled Onion was not to been seen or tasted at all on the dish and overall disappointing. Accompanying the crushed roast potatoes and was a plate of bread and didn’t think it went well. Granted that could be my personal taste but the butter with beef dripping was really good. Now given the meal did not go well a waitress came up while paying the bill and asked for feedback, we mentioned the lack of pickled onion and she alluded to the fact that it could be different depending on the chef.

Course 1, Blockbuster. Looked really cool, but was sloppy and not easy to eat other than in one mouthful. This again could be to my personal taste but it was very cheese heavy and I didn’t enjoy it.

Course 2, I’m not a fan of mushrooms but this was good, the stand out part of the meal.

Course 3, We were served raw sausage, which was acknowledged by the chef, as was offered free snacks. The belly pork that was right on the borderline of being cooked, really didn’t enjoy either elements that we served on different plates. I did mention the pork when asked but didn’t want to complain.

Course 4, Fish Fingers with the additional element. Came on 3 plates, not easy to eat. First the fish finger was served in cup with sauce, I’m guessing so you can dip the fish finger in it. Unfortunately you couldn’t because the fish finger itself was mushy and fell apart, because not cooked properly. The second plate of fish course was inedible, well over seasoned, me and my partner had to leave it. The waitress did ask why it was left, mentioned to her, the chef tried and acknowledged that it was, we were offered free snacks. The additional prawns were over cooked but we ate them.

Course 5, chicken cold and over seasoned, again really did not enjoy the flavour and the dish.

Course 6, dessert, was fine but at this stage I was ready to leave

The service wasn’t the great, the gap between meals was lengthy, with a gap between the wine and food was 15 minutes each course. The waiter and waitresses were apologetic but seemed to have heard it all before. There were other none food related issues but not worth mentioning them.

Six by Nico sent an email asking for feedback, we gave them a summary and in return was offered a complimentary fizz and snacks on our next visit. Whilst a nice gesture this will not temp back through the door. I hope this was a blip or just a bad day for them, but on my experience I really cant imagine going back for a very long...

I'd booked this as a treat to myself and it definitely was. It was such a creative menu. The theme was Alice in Wonderland - Down the Rabbit Hole. My favourite dish was The White Rabbit (I'd never tried rabbit before and they set the standard high) Although they were all very tasty so was really hard to pick one. My favourite thing about the first course "Have I gone Mad" was the mushroom tea and bacon jam. I loved everything about the second course "The White Rabbit" this was my favourite. I was surprised I enjoyed the tarragon pesto, as I'm not usually keen on pesto, but theirs was amazing and the carrot ketchup was a nice touch. The third course "Paint The Roses Red" the celeriac rose and radish was lovely. Course four "Eat me Drink me" The cod was amazing along with the turnip puree and I loved the pickled Tokyo turnip that was a tasty surprise. I was glad a spoon was with this meal as the broth was really nice. Onto course five "Off With It's Head" I'd never tried pork belly before the chouroute and apple gel was nice and the cauliflower had a nice flavour. I admit halfway through this dish I was stuffed, but I obviously still had a little room for course six "Learn How To Make Mushrooms" Chocolate cremeux and praline ice cream with candied hazelnut, finished off the meal perfectly. The rice paper menu was a novelty that had everyone quite taken by it, a good conversation piece. I decided to keep mine for later and only had a bite. Leigh Anne's customer service was great and she offered an aperitif and snacks first. Which sounded lovely, but I opted to go straight into the first course. I'd considered the matching wine option, but as it was lunch settled for a large glass of rose and a bottle of tap water, so I could really appreciate the different flavours of each meal. The bathroom was clean and I liked the branded handles, attention to detail all the way through. I considered leaving this out but felt to be honest I'd include it. Only a couple of very little things that didn't really bother me, the lack of music to begin with. Hardly surprising as I was in the first sitting at 12.15 and it was really busy. Sitting near the door was a bit drafty to begin with, but soon warmed up. I did notice the baby change was behind the bathroom door. Meaning they had to wait until the bathroom room was empty to use it, as it blocked the door. To be honest I never took my boys out for meals when they were that small, the two babies that were there were really good. The staff were all friendly and professional despite it being so busy. The 2 hours flew past and I throughly enjoyed my visit. I'd definitely recommend it and can't wait to try...

This was my (slightly belated because adulting schedules are hard) birthday dinner, and the first time I'd ever done anything of this level. I can't deny I was a little bit daunted by the price just because I've never ever come close to spending this much on a meal, but I have to say I was absolutely blown away and it was absolutely worth it. First off - just to give a big thumbs up to the attentiveness of the SbN team, as I'd pointed out on my booking form that I have an aversion to tomatoes, and they were excellent in dealing with this, swapping out the tomato-based course on my menu for something equally good. I've been to restaurants whose idea of adjusting a menu like that would be to simply serve the same dish without the tomato in it, but SbN went an extra mile there. The service was excellent - we had multiple people at our table over the night checking in on us, but our main guy was (I believe - apologies if I've got this wrong!) Timothy, and he was very helpful and friendly. The food was, well, the best meal I've had in my life (yes, even better than my mum's mince and tatties), and both me and my wife were genuinely impressed and delighted by it. Again, the food was very different to what I'd usually have, even on an occasion dinner, but the skill was evident and the flavours went together so well. I think I could have eaten the smoked onion emulsion (I think? I'm not great with the technical terms, sorry!) which came with the trio of pork as if it were a sorbet, it was so delicious, and that was just one small component. I've attached some distinctly amateur photos (I'm no influencer!) to give an idea, but they don't really do the experience justice. I don't drink, but my wife had the paired wines and thoroughly enjoyed herself with those too - each patiently explained to her upon delivery to the table - and although she's not a big drinker, the serving sizes were just right to not be too much. So yes, it's expensive (especially by my standards), but I have to say it was absolutely worth it on every level, and I hope I can find a chance to come back again in the future to try something else. The new "Trust" menu sounds fascinating. The only tiny (genuinely tiny) feedback I would give is that the restaurant is quite noisy, and the servers were quite softly spoken, so I had to strain to hear sometimes. They were always very nice about repeating, but feel free to shout toward me if I'm ever in again! :)

A fantastic experience on the whole, my first time at Six By Nico, we were a group of four and had the "From Miami to Ibiza" tasting / set menu. The food was presented exceptionally and the flavours and quality were of a high calibre, see photos (this menu is now finished). We felt the greeting and service during the meal was excellent, friendly and knowledgeable, a new staff member presented and talked us through each course. We shared a bottle of wine between us, good selection and all was reasonably priced. We were celebrating a birthday and they were kind enough to bring us a coupet of sparkling wine each which went down well. Great decor and atmosphere, toilet facilities were good. The only downside to our visit was being denied coffee and rushed out to (as we were outwardly told) "Sit the next table" we were aware of the timing but due to the nature of how the 6 courses were served we felt we had struck a fine balance between speed and enjoyment and couldn't have possibly done any better, no coffee was offered on the final dessert course and the table adjacent being a two didn't have the same time pressures and were ordering coffee as we werre ushered out, they arrived at the same time and were served at exactly the same time with the same courses. As it was a celebration and due to the cost of the bill, in excess of £200, the end spoiled it and highlighted the run of the mill treatment we actually received. The final decision to turn the table for the sake of 15 minutes and some very happy guests, was in my opinion a bad one. A busy restaurant with strict timings, whether they actually needed to do this we'll never know. The Restaurant changes its menu regularly, with different themes available throughout the year, so the dining experience is never the same, a great reason to keep going back if you like what's on offer. Recommended.
